I bought what appears to be a nice generator from Northern Tools thru their internet site. I used the phone ordering system to give the order. I ordered on the 25th of May and was told the unit would be in the OKC store in about 10 days. Well 10 days is long gone and I still do not have a generator on the 11th of June. After a number of call over the last week

I FINALLY get told by a supervisor at Northers call center that orders are "normally" received by the customer with 15 "business" days meaning about 3 weeks after the order is received. Of course if you were willing to pay the approximately $100 fee for home delivery you would have it sooner. The supervisor told me that I was told ( I was not) that the item would take 15 "business" days to be received at the store.

I called the call center to check on the order on the 30th of May and was told by their call center that the unit was on a pallet and would be out the door for OKC the 30th of May and should be in OKC by the 4th of June.

After multiple phone calls to the local store I finally called the Northern call center and stripped me a strip of hide off of a supervisor. After he told me that my conformation e-mail told me 15 "business" days I read the conformation e-mail back to him and then sent him a copy of the blasted thing so he could see for himself that their e-mails say nothing about a delivery delay.

If you want something from Northern Tools make sure you are looking at it and can touch it, otherwise be prepared to wait 15 "business" days to get what ever you ordered. The store claims that if you come in with one of their internet deals, they can match the price and will get much faster delivery than the call center. The local store are nice people and have been helpful.

I'm not sure if I will deal with Northern Tools again unless I am looking right at what I want. I ordered four items off of eBay after I ordered this generator and have received all of them from China for crying out loud.

I have been researching how to dig a water well simply by using PVC and water pressure. I started this weekend. So far I have made it about 15 ft down. With this method it is possible to do approximately 35-40 ft down, according to my research. That should be enough to get you into the water table or an unconfined aquifer. I have hit some really tough clay, so today I plan on fabricating a metal drill bit onto the end of my pvc drill pipe. I am curious if anyone else has accomplished this or attempted this task. For everyday life I plan on using the well for irrigation and to fill my pool. But it will definitely be handy for a SHTF scenario. As I continue I will add more posts to help anyone else out, assuming it has a successful ending

So, did anyone decide to change their plans about immediately bugging out in a SHTF situation while they were fleeing or after fleeing the severe weather last night?

That was just a taste of the pandemonium that would occur.

Chalk it up as a learning experience.

A new SARS-like virus recently found in humans is "a threat to the entire world," according to the director-general of the United Nations' World Health Organization.

The so-called novel coronavirus "is not a problem that any single affected country can keep to itself or manage all by itself," Margaret Chan said Monday in her closing remarks at the 66th World Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. No treatments and no vaccine.

This scenario is going to bite us in the butt someday, and it's going to bite hard. It's inevitable.

All of this storm prep had me and the wife setting up our plans for staging all our food, weapons, and BOBs in case of a storm emergency.we have actually decided that our food buckets combined with 2x10s should make great seating in the shelter. This also led to the thought that a person could even have a pistol/mag/ammo bucket or 2 by incorperating some gun case foam for a quick storm day get away. And that led to the idea of just a storm day prep bucket.

I also saw where one member has a kitty litter bucket in their shelter, loved that idea.

So far it just seems to be redundency of the bobs but not so involved as the bobs. I thought I would get ideas from you all as what else may be a good idea for a grab and go situation.

Bucket

flashlight x3
batteries
adjustable wrench
blankets
first aid kit
flash drive
ear plugs
air horn?
laminated paper w/ ICE info
snacks/sea ration
cards/kids card game
baby doll duplicate

I have also been throwing around the Idea of a clothing bucket where maybe each of us (3) can have at least 1 change of clothes plus a second pair of shoes. Am I crazy or do any of you all do stuff like this too?

It seems like they would have a few advantages, mostly related to fuel storage.
