Has anyone bought any .40S&W in bulk? If so, how much and where? I found out yesterday that 150 rounds doesnt last very long at all. If I continue going through it like I did yesterday, I think I would be better off buying in bulk than buying by the box.

In the OKC area, Wal-Mart is about as good as gets for cheap 40sw.

Any idea if Walmart sells in bulk? I know you can get bulk shotgun ammo there but havent seen any bulk rifle or even checked on the handgun ammo.

Not that I'm aware of.

Bass Pro in OKC has some of this. I don't recall the price though, although their site lists it as $46.99. Not the cheapest stuff in the world, that's for sure.

I will have to check Walmart tomorrow and find out. I will also look at Bass Pro next month when the new store opens up down the road from my house :)

That's what you get for going with the 40 :ugh2: ; if you were smart like me... you'd go with 9mm! Hehehe, I'm just messin' with ya! :tounge:

That's why I reload :wink2: There's no way I could afford to go to the range once a week if I had to buy factory ammo all the time.

That's why GOD made 9mm conversion barrels. ;)

See if I let you shoot the 40 again ;)

:teach:Yeah but if you should happen to whip out the 9mm on someone you'll be more likely to piss someone off rather than drop them like a bag of dirt like you would with the 40. Or at least you'll probly have a tired trigger finger and an empty gun by the time they did drop. :teach:

Is Wolf the lead stuff they say not to use in Glock barrels?

Donno about that. I have no glocks or anything like that.

On GT there are several threads about why lead bullets are bad for glocks.

IIRC, Wolf is one of the no no's.

I'm not positive, but I would recommend researching it before feeding it to a glock.

We shoot G19 handguns exclusively, a 1st gen and 3 3rd gen, and are on our 5th case of Wolf polymer 115 FMJ with no malfunctions...none. This is 9mm ammo of course, not 40, but the 9mm is good practice ammo for $90 a case.

We also practice with WWB 115 FMJ and Georgia Arms 124 FMJ. The Wolf is very comparable accuracy wise, though it is not quite as hot a load, it smells funny, and it is somewhat dirtier than either GA or WWB.

For the cost difference of Wolf, I would at least buy a box of 50 and try it. It won't hurt your Glock.

Again, this is 9mm but maybe it helps?

The Wolf amo is usually steel cased with a laquer(?) finish it gums up the actio, but I do believe that Wolf makes a higher grade target amo.

I'm pretty sure Wolf doesn't do lead. Just FMJ and JHP, at least in handgun ammo.

Brennan,

Wolf used to be laquer coated and would "gum up" in some guns. There may still be some of the old ammo floating around out there, but the new production ammo is coated with a polymer film that is very clean and does not leave any more residue than brass (at least in our 9mm glocks and 5.56 ARs). The rounds are steel cased with a copper jacketed bullet.

As far as target grade ammo, Wolf markets some 22lr match ammo that is made in Germany (as opposed to Russia for the steel cased ceterfire ammo) and shoots very well in our rifles for a mid priced target round. The 22lr is brass cased/lead bullet and is relatively more expensive than Wolf centerfire ammo.

Hope this helps,
