I was digging around in the closet trying to arrange and make more space. I opened an old suitcase to find 57 knives I had collected as a kid.
Some look perfect, some show wear, some have a little greenish colored goo on the metal ends. Over all they look pretty good for being stored for 15+ years. Anybody remember when it was cool to get the Rambo Survival knife with compass from the Army Surplus store? I even found one full auto switch blade. The kind that shoots straight out the top, not the side folding.
Man these bring back memories.

Nice looking set. :)
By the way, when the blade pops out of the tops instead of the side, it's called a Stilleto(sp?). My dad has had one for years and I used to think it was soooooo awesome.

When I was a kid, I bought these all the time. At about 11yrs old, one went into the right foot. Lots of blood and some stitches. After that I stopped buying them. I sold about half my collection to the other kids in the neighborhood. I guess all my butterfly knives were sold.

I know this sounds really insane, but i'm deathly afraid of knives (but I love guns). I think it's bc I'd rather be hurt by a gun than knife. --- A gun would be fast pain, yet a knife could be slow, agonizing torture. Does that makes any sense at all?

that looks about like my old collection. Used to keep mine in one of those old metal tackle boxes. Thought is was the coolest thing in the world when I was 11-12. I got stabbed in the foot one time also playing "stretch", went through the top of my foot didn't really tear anything up. We taped it up and I played B-ball on it that night. No one ever knew about it cept the other kids.

I don't even own close to 57 knives. Heck of a cool thing to find, though.

It was really cool finding them after all these years. Other than these old finds, I have 2 other knives: Smith and Wesson SWAT Millinium Run and a cheapie CDNN that I carry.
Out of 57, there are only 2-3 that have sentimental value. I'll probably pull those out and try to sale the rest.

I bought a Benchmade from Outdoor America last year when they had their sale. It called a "griptillian". It was like $76 regularly, but with the discount, it was only like $45! Best knife I've ever had. I use it daily.

The Victorinox/Swiss Army (the red one at the bottom) because my grandfather gave it to me. He rocked, unfortunately he passed a few years ago.
The other is just a no name with the grips missing. Its memorable because it was my first stab wound/stitches/holy crap situation. I did losts of "smart" things as a child.

I'm going to pull my 2 favorites and sell the remaining 55 as one lot. Does anybody have any idea on what price is appropriate to ask? I have no idea what old knives are worth.
I'll be keeping 2 of the old ones and already have 2 new ones. 4 is all I need.

I have no idea. I don't know much about them.
Will it say 101 on it or are there other identifying marks?

Anybody have a guess-timate on value for 55 knives?
Any suggestions would be helpful as I'm going to list the group for sale/trade in the classifieds section tomorrow.

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you my friend. Even if each knife was $5, you'd have $275.
I know nothing about resale of knives, but even $10 each would sound reasonable to me. That would be $550.
Some of those knives may be worth way more than that even.
Too bad you can't get them appraised somehow so you'd know for sure.

I have no idea. I was thinking $3-4 each would be cool. I probably paid about $500 for everything new back in 1987-1990.

I listed these in the classifieds section.
Hopefully somebody can put them to good use.

I updated the classifieds thread to $2 each (must buy all).
Surely somebody is sitting around thinking, Man I really need about another 50 more knives.
