Yeah we've thought of it and also not allowing links under 10 or so posts.

the site that I moderate has amost 8,000 members, the administrator started banning whole IP families or something like that, seemed that the spammers were all coming from the same general area, no other members had anything near those IP's so he banned the whole block of them...

slowed them way down, we have just recently been getting a larger influx of them.

we have like 8 moderators and 1 admin...
