what would I expect to pay for a good 9mm can? brands? any recommendations? Can't you get a .40/.45 can and shoot it off a 9mm barrel and it still suppress the weapon?

Go to www.machinegunsplus.com and get ahold of Brandon Benson. He is a Class III dealer and could answer ANY question you might have. Also, he's located in the Northwood Lake Edition so he's not too far away from you. I just ordered a can from him and my buddy ordered a can for his M1A and his .308 LTR.

You can go down in size on cans. A 9mm throw a .40/.45 can. I got my 3 cans from Bill at B&M Firearms (405) 273-1132 Shawnee.
Go to http://silencertests.com/ they can help out a lot when it comes to cans!!!!!!

If I used a 45acp can on a 9mm how does it compare to using a 9mm can on a 9mm?

It not as quite as a right size can. If you had a 45 and a 9 I wanted to put cans on I would by the larger can first and use it on both. Then get the smaller can later.
I have shot 22LR throw my 45 MAC can just for the hell of it. And it makes it quieter but it is a long way from a .22 can.

You also need to check with the MFG. because some will not warranty their can if you shoot a smaller caliber through it.
I have a SWR Omega .308 can on my bolt gun and it is awesome so I would suggest you look at them... www.swrmfg.com
YHM cans are also excellent for the price and I am going to purchase a 223 can from them soon.

I have a YHM Cobra 9mm suppressor on my G17. I like mine very much. It is quiet enough that I don't need hearing protection and it has cycled my G17 100% since the first round. Don't know what more you could ask for. Got mine from OSA member Stoverarms here on this board.
