Why would you use hollow points on a freezer door? I would use 124grn FMJ. For self defense I carry Speer Gold Dot 124grn +P+.

Speer Gold Dots 124gr+p or 147gr.

Rangers are another good choice either in 127gr +P+ or 147gr.

Instead of wasting them on a freezer door, why don't you shoot a row of water jugs or some wet newspaper to see what the bullets will do?
Put various barriers in front of them, denim, etc.

Another +1 for Speer Gold Dots (check Outdoor America), but I wouldn't waste that ammo on freezer. I would load the freezer full of blazer. It would be just as much fun for 1/3 the price.

Or you could get some stuffed animals and shoot them off a car on blocks in your backyard. :nutkick:

Freezer door is what we found at the time laying on my friends land. Wet newspaper would work I have plenty of that.

Get a premium 115 jhp or 124 jhp. Perosnally I prefer the +p or +p+ if you can get them. I have seen the Speer gold dots and they look real good. My perosnal 9mm is loaded with the Corbon 115 +P+ (1400 fps). I dont like the ranger series, more hype than performance. If you dont want +p try the federal nyclad I have seen some good results. If you want a good performer that is readily available Remington makes the RMM6 (walmart sales/sold them) it is a 115 +p load at 1250 fps.

Do you honestly feel better carrying a lightweight fragmenting bullet like the cor-Bon 115gr+P?
I don't feel that they give adequate penetration under all circumstances.
My opinion is formed from reviewing all of the well known test data as well as my own homegrown tests.

I'm with DrBaker on this one, tho not a Blazer fan, I'd go for the cheap stuff. It wont make any diference in the damage done to a metal door. HPs or FMJs will make the same sized hole in a sheet metal door. Blazer=3 holes for the same price as 1 Ranger. Save your HPs for milk jugs, or self defense.

I keep speer gold dots in my G32, but rangers xtp excellent rounds as well.

For the budget minded, the Winchester "white box" USA9JHP is a reasonable solution. They feed well in my CZ due to the longer "cone" shape, and IIRC the ammolab.com guys did some gel tests and it performed almost as well as the Gold Dots.

Ive Been To A Few Fbi Gel Shoots, And The Three Best Rounds That Perform Every Time Are..... In Order... 1) Remington Golden Saber 124 Gr. +p Bonded, 2) Speer 115 +p+ Gold Dot, And, 3) Winchester 127 +p+ Ranger Talon. Stay Far Far Away From Federal Hydra Shock, Cor-bon, Winchester Silvertip And Any Other "standard" Jhp

Have always heard good things about Hydra Shocks? Why stay away?

Because they are an outdated design.
They do not reliably expand and the ones that do also give you the built-in option of underpenetration and fragmentation.

The Hydra-shock In The Fbi Gel Shoot Performed Well In Bare Gel, However If Anything Was Placed In Front Of The Gel (t-shirt Etc) The Hollow-point Would Plug, And The Bullet Performed Like A Fmj. Massive Over Penetration. If The Bullet Hit Something Hard (sheet-rock Etc) It Fragamented Badly, And Had Only 3 Or 4 In. Penetration. Fmj Performed Better

Thats funny to see. The hydrashock has long been known to be one of the best for not getting the cavity plugged up. I have done a lot of research about the FBI tests (in fact I have an actual copy some where) and I think there testing is flawed. It was scewed to get them the 10mm light. I was at Quantico during the decision making process. The agents were not happy. The Bureau wanted to blame ammo for the Miami incident. It was a tactic thing and just two real bad, crazy dudes. The winchester silvertips did a real good job. They just did not work. No ammo is 100%. I beleive if you want the most up to date ammo test get a copy of INS/Border patrol test they did last year. The redid some of the criteria and made it a lot more realistic. But remember jello is jello not human flesh and blood.
