I am applying at OKC Gun Club and unfortunately none of my buddies have long range rigs. So anyone here want to hook up some time and hit the 600 yard range?

I am applying at OKC Gun Club and unfortunately none of my buddies have long range rigs. So anyone here want to hook up some time and hit the 600 yard range? You must be a member of OKC Gun Club or be hosted by someone who is before you can access the range. Submitting a membership application doesn't authorize use of club facilities. As a guest you may only receive limited use.
From the OKC Gun Club Rules of Conduct:
"1. This range and the associated facilities are for the use of OKLAHOMA CITY GUN CLUB members and their guests only. Members will wear their membership badges at all times while on the range."
"3. GUEST POLICY:
a. Senior members may bring no more than two (2) guests to shoot at the range at any one time, except for members of his immediate family.
b. Associate members may bring no more than one (1) guest to shoot at the range at any one time, except for members of his immediate family.
c. A guest may not shoot on the range more than three (3) times per calendar year. Guests under the age of 18 are exempt from this rule.
d. Guests must shoot from the same bench or firing point as their host.
e. Guests must obey the rules of the Club, and their safe and courteous conduct is the responsibility of the host member.
f. Guests must be accompanied by their host at all times.
4. Gates are to be kept closed and locked at all times except during scheduled shooting events. Lock combinations will not be divulged to non-members."

I know it doesn't. I was asking in advance for when I do get my membership.

Also note the guest policy.

I know that also. I'm one of those people that see the glass as being half full though. And this offer was for other members to shoot with me, not me inviting people. I guess that is why you feel it necessary to keep posting the rules???

I guess that is why you feel it necessary to keep posting the rules???I'm one of those people -- or rather OKC Gun Club members -- who believes in following the rules. I appreciate having a NICE place to shoot and not having to use Lexington, Canadian Valley, etc. Surely someone who wants to be a member of the OKC Gun Club would also want to follow those rules as a condition of membership. If not, it may not be a club for you.
Your post reads more like an open invitation to anyone who wants to come shoot and not specifically directed to OKC Gun Club members. As I understand the General Rules of Conduct, that might potentially violate the guest policy.
As of right now, you are not a member and have no access to OKC Gun Club facilities, yet your post seems to infer that you have access.

Ahhhh...I'm lookin at his posts like if he becomes a member he might be nice enough to let me go shoot with him sometime since as a member he'll be able to bring guests. Is everyone as snooty at the OKC Gun Club as you? Jeeez, thats another +1 for Lexington right there, just come as you are, leave the attitude at home and enjoy some gun shooting with some good people without having anyone slinging "these are rules abide by them or die" attitude. lol

If the rules bother you, then Lexington may be more to your liking.

And like I said, he might be nice enough to let me go shoot with him sometime....sometime doesn't mean all the time sooooo...why are you repeating what I said without having a point? And I'm sure Lexington is more to my liking, noones ever showed up with a snooty "this is a memers only golf and country club" attitude wearin thier little nickers and sipping tea speaking proper english and having the tele brought to them on a silver platter out on the course. Are you the rules police out there cause you sure seem like you're trying to fill that role. :anyone:

I think I'll skip gettin 'jumped in', and go straight to 'jumped out'. A good bit snooty for my tastes.

I went last week with a senior member and shot with him and he gave me a tour of the place and he didn't have the attitude that this guy did. And if I have to get jumped in then bring it!
Oh and Jason.... You are the first one I'm going to call to come shoot. :hyper:

That's IF I get accepted and then you must read all the rules posted above and write me an essay stating you have read them and we must do a spit shake and dance a little jig. :rotflmao:

It's been interesting to see the comments throwin out on this thread. Several years ago I had a friend that is a member of the OKC gun club. I was invited out there a few times. They do have nice facilities. However the very attitude that Lazarus displayed here is the reason I never tried to become a member.
Too many of the members I came in contact with had that elitist, country club, snooty, attitude. There ARE other places to shoot.

There ARE other places to shoot.
Show me where there is another 600 yard range and a 500 yard steal range and another 300 yard range.....
I'll put up with attitude for that. I know and have met two members out there and both are solid guys. I bet the ones that have attitudes probably hardly shoot out there so I'm not worried about it. And that place is so big that if someone is bugging you there is lots lanes to move to.

Well..I happen to know where there is a 1,000 yard range where you can shoot all the distances in between without having to pick up and move. Doesn't have shooting benches though, cause we shoot from the prone position. Also, 7 Unknown distance ranges, and 8 different pistol ranges.

I should have specified that I meant in the OKC area Mr. Whittington. I WILL be at your place in April though no matter what since I didn't make the one in a few days.

Josh,
I look forward to meeting you in April. But seriously, if you ever want to make a day trip down this way to shoot on the ranges, just let me know. They are available for people to shoot on. ( Yes..even full autos are welcomed!). And if we don't have any classes going on, if you want to make it a weekend blowout, we have a pretty nice dormitory for ya'll to stay in too. And please..I know I am getting to be senior citizen age, but call me Bobby.
Man, now I know what club NOT to join.... :screwy:
Thanks for aggressively filling us in on the rules of a club we don't belong to.

Josh-L:
If it looks like there will be too many nonmembers, send me a note and I'll come. I'll bring one of the nonmembers as my guest. I'm sure we can scare up a couple more members to make it all compliant.
Lazarus:
The facilities are only half the reason I joined OKC. The friendly people are the other reason. Quit giving us a bad name, eh?

Thanks Flyboy. I hope I get "accepted". I'm sure Lazarus had good intentions, he was just a little too agressive about it. Like I said earlier, the few members I know are outstanding to be around and shoot with.

I know stepper goes to the OKC gun club. He's probably as good a guy as you could want to shoot with. I bet most folks there are on the up an up. Unfortunately, one jackhole comes around and makes it look less desirable.
If anybody needs a guest, *cough* *cough*, let me know.

Definitely not for me....last thing i want is Thurston Howell III looking over my shoulder checking to make sure i'm using my Gucci Range bag :)
Rules are cool...and very neccessary....but dang......get a grip. This thread makes the place sound WAYYYY too snooty. Are there dinner jackets available?
Ok...i'm through being a pain for a while :)

It's all in fun folks !

Yes, I"m a member of the OKC gun club. This year will be my 3rd year as a member. I've probably been out there an average of 4 times per year. When I do go, its usually about 8am during the week because of my work schedule.
I haven't met any snobs out there at all.
I do have a meeting this weekend to go over the rules. We have a 30-page rule book that we have to have 4 classroom sessions per year to make sure we know them forwards and backwards.
Go ahead, ask me a rule. I know them all.
Okay....
Without refering to the manual, what is rule # 9?
DrBaker

Stepper can recite any rule. He even doesn't while looking down his nose at you.

Hey, it looks like our old friend Lazarus Man (http://glocktalk.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=3203843) from GT's Okie forum has crept over here.
Briefly, anyway.
He really enjoyed crapping on threads until either being banned or spanked by the Mods hard enough to go elsewhere.
