My dad was shooting at Lexington this last sunday afternoon...started talking to guy that had targets of BinLaden.....tried shooting them at Banner Rd, the guy runnin Banner about had a heart attack goin nuts on him because it was a target of a person. BOOO Shame on you its paper! Throw us a fricking bone! Besides that, its a paper picture of BinLaden!!! Those are damn good targets too! A nice big target to sight in on....you can easily see where you're hitting on something that 2'x3' rather than a 12" round pie plate sized target. Heck, my 10 yr old son shot the crap outta one of them BinLaden targets before....I asked him "Dylan, you know who that is?" He said "yeah, thats that bad man that flew them planes into the buildings........I'm gonna shoot him in the eyes!!" ATTA BOY!! [spank][spank][spank][spank]
Just another BIG STRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE against Banner Rd.

That is so stupid of him to raise a stink. That waste of space attacked our country and we cant put up a target of him and shoot at it!!!!! And like you said its paper!!!!! Law Enforcement uses pictures of people holding various weapons, so I see no difference with one of Bin Laden. The guy running Banner is just plain ignorant.
H&H wont let you use them either.....it's a liability and public image issue I guess.

I think that stinks, If that sack of slime was in some real scopes, he wouldnt be here now, shoot away I say, if that affends some I am sorry, but It is America, we have a right to FREE speach, and to KEEP and BEAR arms. my $.02
Sure we have a right to free speach...and the folks that make their living running a running a business have the right to control what happens in/on their establishment.
It's tough enough running a firearms related business these days without voluntarily opening yourself up to unhealthy exposure. With the liberal media these days, all we need is some hungry reporter running a story about H&H or Banner rd range "Promoting Hate Crimes Against Arabs!" As hokey as that sounds, it's been done before and they'll do it again.
In the military we call it "Self Inflicted A$s Pain", and we try to avoid it whenever possible.

I look at it as Promoting the keeping of our freedoms. The picture above has Osama Bin Laden on it, you might have heard of this guy. Its not some "random Arab guy" so I don't think its promoting hate crimes towards anyone. And, let say the picture above is just a black or red sillouette of "a body".....is that promoting hate crimes against a black person or an Indian? Sorry but I don't think so, to me it represents a possible person in my house and is something good to learn to shoot at, last I checked robbers (or terrorists for that matter) don't run around with 12" pie plates on them for you to shoot at, if you're lucky enough to have a gun in hand and catch these people doing the crime. I don't think teaching someone where to shoot a silluette is opening anything up to unhealthy exposure. If anything its promoting good gun control when firing and it teaches people how to shoot and hit a target. :owned3:
Man, nobody is saying it's wrong to shoot those targets, especially me...if we killed that bastard I might not have spent so much time away from home since 9/11.
What I am saying is that public opinion, public perception and the fickle nature of the media makes it dicey territory for a business owner. Businesses live and die by their reputation. So if prohibiting the use of some targets keeps them from being scapegoated in the media and allows them to stay open...I'm cool with that.
If I feel the need to blast a Osama target....which I rarely do since paper plates are much cheaper....I'll do it on private property and get on with my life.

Harry, apparently the Banner range operator in question, is a knowledgeable old fellow, Gunsmith and an accomplished Service Rifle competitor with an M1 Garand.
More importantly, he runs a range. A range that attracts yee haws that shoot through target stands, steel posts and the elevation limiting steel apron out past the shooting line. Bone heads that walk down range during firing, and fire or tinker with their weapons while others are down range during pre-agreed cease fire periods. Others who bring trash to shoot, then leave it on the ground. Bump firing over the berm into the next section South. On and on. The usual crap that range operators deal with on a daily basis. I'm sure that "firing pin" could relate similar incidents and negligent acts at his range in Hinton.
His actions/ rules are in response to problems. Apparently, the targets in question have become a problem for him and H&H, per an above post.
RatTerrier- Have you talked to Harry about your unhappiness with his range policies? A reasonable chat with him may shed light upon his decision and your opinions.
To each, his own, but IMO an outdoor range that costs a few bucks and has rules, within driving distance is an asset. Sometimes better than a "Public" range with no enforceable rules.
I'm lucky that I have a friend that lets me shoot on his 400+ yd range/ pasture. If I was to use a commercial/ public range (Especially if I took my kids or it was a busy day), I'd pick Banner over Lexington.
