I looked on-line last night for Savage rifles I want a heavy barrell so more than likely a police edition I also want it in either 308 or 30-96. But the Savage sight said retail is like $600 I was thinking they were cheaper than that.I will be looking at the Wanamacher Arms Show.

You can buy them from Wal-Mart. They rarely have a heavy barrel model in stock, but they will order it. I was looking at the 308 w/24in heavy barrel. It's about $470.
I haven't priced them at the local gun shops but the online stuff seems to be close to $450-460.

well i bought it used from a guy that shot maybe 10 rounds in it, I have shot about 15 rounds through it. It has a no name scope on it, harris benchrest bi pod, the end of the barrel has a flame suppressor on it, I like the gun, I just really have no need for it, I dont hunt, Im not a sniper, so really it just sits there....
But i Am not wanting to give it away nor to I want to rip someone off...

I had a tricked out Savage 110FP Tactical in .300 WinMag circa 1999. It was a nice rifle but I didn't shoot it much. Sold it to a friend of mine who just had to have it. At least I broke even.
I'd like to hear more about the gun pictured above too. Caliber, specs, price would be great.

The Savage 10FP in .308 with a 20" or 24" barrel would be a good choice IMHO. The "AccuTrigger" is really sweet too. You can get any trigger pull between two to six pounds by using the little tool or wrench that is supplied with the gun. Savage sure caught Ruger and Remington flat footed with the invention of that trigger.
There have been at least two articles by Metcalf and Fortier in "Shooting Times". In both articles, the accuracy and the AccuTrigger were both given high praise. I believe, if memory serves, that Metcalf had the .308 and got some half inch or less groups.

I know there alot of gun snobs out there who snub the Savage. I say let them...leaves them to guys like me who tinker with them amd change the barrels out to play with different catridges. I have 2 fp models in my possession and my 25-06 tactical if my all around favorite. Theres not too much that ugly nut bolted gun wont do as long as shooting 3/8" groups @ 100yds are in order. Having said that I own 4 other varminters and they all seem to shoot good groups once you find the recipie for it. First thing I would do is tear it all apart and clean it "new". If you are interested in selling it let me know as well.....might be able to slack off on buying a couple of other rifles in lieu of getting another rifle I can switch barrel.

my model 110 in .270 win. is very accurate. I really like this rifle, and I bought it at 299.00 brand new in box with a cheap simmons scope. I changed out the scope and have killed several deer and other critters with it, some out to 225 yards.
