Check my interpretation of Kansas car laws with regard to guns. I can carry in my car anywhere in the state as long as my piece is:
--unloaded
--in a container
So, I should be ok to pause at the border, drop the mag out of my pistol, and stuff it back in its factory case?
Edit: I have an OK CWL, this interpretation of KS law is based off of the info on packing.org regarding the recent car carry law they have up there.

bump...when I posted the original it didn't show the forum as having a new post?
Check my interpretation of gun laws:
They suck and are unconstitutional.
I would think that there would be nothing wrong with going that route (stopping at the border) as long as you are very discreet.
If I were going to disarm, that's how I would do it.
It's astonishing to me how unfriendly Kansas is.

Ugh. Such a PITA, though. If they would just get off their rumps and pass CCW legislation, we in OK could drive just about every direction.

Good luck on your journey and remember, when you're in Kansas you're a VICTIM! Act accordingly!!!!!!!
Cower down and beg for mercy?

Might ought to check if a loaded mag in the car constitutes a loaded weapon. May have to unload the mag too. I've heard that their governor is very anti ccw.

I'm ashamed to admit, I just left it at home. The worst part is, my detination is MAYBE 10 minutes over the border.
When ever I go to the PRK I actually stop and dissassemble my G27 and put in the back of the Blazer and store the ammo up front. I know its not "locked" up but dang a little common sense would tell someone its not very accessable. I wish they would step up and become a real member of these United States.
