After shooting the Glock 18C today it got me wondering How does one go about purchaseing a full auto. What is the hardest part of buying?
I have heard you need a tax stamp from the feds.do you need anything else, like lots of money, time to track one down, luck of the Irish. How easy is it to find a full auto. Any info is helpful thanks.

First.....round up a bunch of cash.....seriously.....a m11/9 is about $2500....G18 around $20,000
second........fill out form 4
Third, passpot photos
fourth,,,,,CLEO sigh off
Fifth....submit
sixth.........wait, and wait, and wait

And don't forget the fingerprints cards and citizenship form.
Like Patrickcudd said, the biggest hurdle will be the price. The transfer tax is $200, but the guns are outrageous. M11/9 = $2,500, Uzi = $6,000, M16 = $10,000, etc...

Thats what I figured long wait times, forms in triplicate, 5 vials of blood and then after all that you have to guess a number between 1-100 and if you don't guess right you have to start over. The price doesn't really scare me I figure I would start off with a cheaper model use it for a few years sell it then upgrade. I think F/A prices should be like gas prices, no chance in going down with some serious price spikes here and there.

That pretty much sums it up.

What's an MP-5 going for nowadays? I kick myself for not getting one in the early 90's.

Autoweapons.com has several listed in the $16,000 range. They normally are a little bit high on their prices, but I don't think you will find one for much less.

I think OA (of all places) had one not too long ago for $13,500.

You will need:
2 Form 4s with the local CLEO Signature
2 4x4 Photos of yourself attached to the form 4s
1 Citizenship form
2 Fingerprint cards
$200.00 for the tax stamp
and finally patience. The wait may take 90 days or longer for approval.
In state, you can transfer person to person without a dealer.
If you find something out of state, there has to be a transfer to a dealer in that state, then a transfer to a dealer in your state, then a transfer to you. Takes much longer.
I have two submachineguns and a silencer myself. It can get addicitive, expensive and a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. The smile factor at the range with someone who has never shot one before is worth it.

Funny that you should mention that. I've been thinking about selling my MK-760, but I haven't decided yet.

I've got a nice MP5 sear gun that is a lot of fun. I have been thinking about switching over to a different weapon system though. Something that is not quite as expensive to get parts for like an M16.
