How many do you carry? And if more than just the one in the weapon, how do you carry them?

Usually one in the weapon and one spare in a mag pouch.

Two at work. One on my own time.

Both in belt mounted pouches.

If I carried a single stack weapon, I'd carry at least two all the time.

Depends on the attire - G27 in ankle holster - just the one in the gun

most other times - the one in the gun and a spare

Having shot my gun empty before, I believe in the value of carrying a lot of ammo. :wink2:

One in gun and one spare if its an auto. Cylinder full and two speed strips if its a revolver.

What kind of pouches do you use? My SDA packet finally got approved and for some reason I hadn't really thought about carrying spare magazines until now. Now that it's finally getting cool, I'll most likely be wearing a jacket or another shirt, so I don't see concealing magazines to be much of an issue, but I was really thinking about summer time when I posed the question.

I have used my competition pouches for everyday carry for a long time now.
I'm currently using ready Tactical gear available at www.pistolpacking.com
they are slim, lightweight and as concealable as any.

I normally carry my G26 w/10rds. On occassion, I throw a G17 mag in the front pocket.

1911 I use a Milt Sparks 2x mag pouch on my belt.

For my Kahrs I carry 2 reloads in a cut down Uncle Mikes pocket holster in my back pocket.

I usually carry a couple of revolvers, but I keep at least two speed strips, moon clips or speed loaders on me, also.

Mike,
can you tell us what kind (brand) of mag pouch you use off duty?
(and also if one type is preferable to you over another)

I use the Comp-Tac single mag pouches, that way if I want to carry one or two I can be flexible.

I tighten them way down and they are still plenty accessible.

I carry one spare mag for my 32C. If 26 rounds can't eliminate the threat(s), I'm in BIG trouble.

If X rounds can't eliminate the threat(s), I'm in BIG trouble.

+1 on the methodology. :) I think the same way except I only carry the one mag(15rd) and one in the hole on my 19.

:nono1:

You should always carry a spare mag if possible.
The reasoning has little to do with ammunition capacity but rather weapon malfunction.
You might need to strip the mag during a fight and the natural motion is (should be) to grab the spare.
Now,if you are comfortable hashing out issues with your single mag and then reinserting it during a dynamic self defense scenario,by all means live by *your* rules. ;)

Personally,I think anyone who chooses to carry only one mag has 'beer & pizza" issues.

(does that work,Mike?)

Ok, I'll give it to you on the failure angle, but if I'm unlucky enough to have my only mag fail on me in the way off chance that I'd even be in the position to need to use my weapon, then God can have me. :wink2:

Besides, I've been to lazy to pick up some more HP's for it since I got that mag full fom you, so I've only got the other 2 mags packed with some blazer.. :D

A full one in the 1911 (7+1), then two full mags in a Galco dual mag carrier, any season.

Oh, and I have two more full spares at home in case I have a problem with any of the carry mags, or if I need them for training.
