range in OKC area

I am in the miliary, just got stationed at Tinker, and would like to know of some good outdoor ranges in the area.

any help would be much appreciated,

how do fellow tinker-ite. been out there 5 years myself, though i am a contractor and only have about a week left there. moving south!

the only outdoor range i've used around here (live in norman) is the one east of lexington. can be crowded, sometimes not so safe, and sometimes attracts people of questionable frames of mind. but it's free with a hunting lic. :)

if your in edmond and want to go outside i'd say look at arcadia. never been there but it's close to you.

Banner Rd. AKA Canadian Range- I 40 West to exit 130 (?), South about 1/3 mi, Right (West) at the pistol shaped sign, then west about 2 miles or so, driveway on the Left (South) side. $8 fee. Open all day until sunset. 25-100 yd range, bring your own sandbags/ rest or rent one there. Steel shooting OK.

Tri City Gun Club- Members range at the South end of Norman. I'm not a member, never been there.

OKC Gun Club- Big (Members) ranges, website, etc.. Out near Lake Arcadia. Close to you.

Or, meet and make friends with ranchers/ farmers. OK is a largely rural state, but almost completely private land. There's 1600yd ranges everywhere :) but you have to know someone to let you shoot on their sections.

Many ranchers are cynical, having allowed people to shoot, hunt or fish on their land, only to have the offering abused by sloppy, trashy drunks that leave gates open and ruin it for everyone.

I usually hit Banner rd once a week or so, except this time of year. I'm in Del City, so not too far from you. It's about a 30 min drive if I'm taking my time. Best outdoor range I've run into.

+1 For Lexington. Been there often, met alot of guys from ar15.com over there. Never seen anyone bein all "crazy" out there or anything. I've always had pleasent experiances out there.
