Anybody on here shoot PPC? I was wondering if there was any local places around Tulsa that host PPC shoots such as Oil Capital. I need to start practicing on this style so I can shoot +540 scores by next October.

What is PPC?

Police Pistol Combat/Competition. It is a 60 round shooting course with 24 of those rounds shot from the 50 yard line.

I believe Cushing has this.

Subsonic, Cushing does have PPC matches and there is also a match in Sand Springs. The matches in Cushing won't start back until March or April and it is the first Saturday of everymonth. And the matches in Sand Spring are suppose to be every other week but they don't usually happen that way, however they are suppose to be year round.

I appreciate the info. Is the PPC shoot in Sand Springs at the SSPD range, the one behind it or at Red Castle?

They are at the SSPD range.

Contact Mark Hogan at City of Tulsa Security for more info.

I don't have contact info for him unfortunately.

Thanks for that info. I've got a buddy that works for the City of Tulsa Security that can get that contact info for me.

I believe the NRA rules say only if you are Military Police and not a member of the Marksmanship Unit.

You're not missing much with PPC. There are far more fun shooting sports in the area IMO.

I just did PPC because I had to shoot the course for Firearms Instructor School.

Well that leaves me out, I guess I'll just try IDPA again

If the guy at Tulsa Security has the info, can people who hold a valid CLEET ASG license participate in PPC? Maybe that person at COT Security is also a reserve? Can you shed any light on this Michael?

Hogan is a reserve for BAPD that is how he probably does it.

I figured it was something like that. I have no desire in competing but I thought it might open up some doors for other if they hadn't thought of that.

That it is the same reason why I would like to start shooting it so I will be ready come next October for my first try at it.

Mike, when do you think CLEET will phase this out as a requirement, and go to something more relevant?

I have heard very loud grumblings that the CLEET firearms program is in for some VERY big changes when the move to Ada happens...

I think firearms training will see massive changes when CLEET moves to Ada.

That said, I don't necessarily think its a bad requirement.

One of the most difficult things I deal with as an instructor is lack of fundamentals. If nothing else, shooting a 540 on the PPC course does ensure the potential instructor has a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals.

Well, If PPC doesn't want me to shoot it... FINE! I didn't want to anyways... :'(

They're just scared... Yeah that's it...

Just messin' haha.

Mike , I wholeheartedly agree with the issue of fundamentals. I have actualy heard rumors that the Phase 1 revolver cert will not be a requiement to get phase 2 and 3. I think this will be a terrible idea, myself. I feel that if one can shoot a revolver well, he can shoot anything. It is rare to meet a cop with less than 15 years on the job who has even shot a revolver, let alone carried one. I know that I am the only guy on my PD who even quals with a revolver still.

Phase One may be phased out because its the one where you only have to shoot a 480.

Phase Two is where you have to shoot 540. Phase Two is where they lose almost all of the applicants.
