I went to my first match over the weekend and I had a blast.
Thanks to any of yall who were out there I got a lot of tips and pointers.
Also thanks to the ops guys for encouraging me to go, I'm hooked.

Don't think I did too bad for a newbie. Total score 150.77

And maybe if you get real good, you can get some "Shooting Jammies" and a hot pink holster like the pros.
:wink2:

IPSC is definitely the shooting sports' fashion equivalent of golf.

 That's good stuff, I'm removing you from the "suck meter" today. :) J/K, but I like the humor.

I have to agree with what you wrote Brown. I tried IPSC and there was so many bad habits that I felt it was a detrement to someone who was serious about self defense to participate in such a game.

I like to get out and shoot just as much as the next guy, but some of the "gun games" seem like they are teaching bad habits. Seems to me like if that's what a person practices, then that's what they will use in a high stress situation. That's probably the biggest reason I don't compete any more. I did quite well years ago but I gave it all up for the above mentioned reason.

Welcome to the "game", I hope you enjoy yourself as much as the rest of us and if you being to find it too stressful, you are doing something wrong...not enjoying yourself...You did very well...my mojo was not with me saturday so I sucked badly...BUT I still had a blast!!!

Next Oil Capital match is December 17th...and depends on the holster...as long as there is no light through the belt channel you can use it and if it is a paddle, it is legal...should be anyway...

Deeming yourself to have "owned" someone sounds a lot like laughing at your own jokes.

And smacks of prebubescence.

I also have a feeling that if your child had run a race in the Special Olympics, you wouldn't be mocking the contest like that. If you've witnessed the courage of those kids, you'd realize what a piss-ant you really are by making fun of those less fortunate than you.

Perhaps when I'm kicking your ass, you'll learn something about respect.

K.S.Dynamic ......sorry your post got bastardized......I am glad you enjoyed yourself at the match. But don't lock yourself into one thing until you have tried other things. Then decide for yourself what you want to stick with it.

To touch on the other topics of the other posters......All the shooting sports are games, not matter how racey/tactical/whatever else someone wants to label things. I have shot IDPA/USPSA/IPSC/USPSA 3-Gun/IMGA 3-Gun. As a personal preference I like 3-Gun anyway I can get it. Mostly IMGA do to is is simple rules and complex of coarses. I have never been one to stand in a box and hose targets......I like more of coarse that will challenge your skills to the limits.

Good Luck with your shooting K.S.Dynamic.....

I was referring to Tweeter's lack of maturity and total lack of respect.

Anyone who would make fun of retarded children deserves my boot in their ass.

I consider these folks friends, not followers.

However I can see where a person like yourself would find it hard to tell the difference since nobody seems to form friendships or entourages for piss-ant, juvenile punks.

Tweeter is pretty immature for putting down the metally handicapped - but as a moderator should you be talking to him about kicking his ass and calling him names? We all know he is immature. I have never threatened people or called them names and I get private messaged for questioning speed traps? I don't mean this disrespectful, but if we can't talk openly either should moderators.

I would hardly consider the issue even remotely similar given that you choose to constantly criticize people for things you know nothing about. You are simply a critic who chooses to criticize rather than doing something for your fellow man.

I simply responded regarding soundly defeating someone in a pistol match, my distaste for him mocking the mentally handicapped, and my belief that he relegated people that I consider friends to the condescending title of followers.

If you cannot see a significant difference, then I can see how you and I will probably not agree on anything.

On the other hand, if you really believe that I would physically assault some immature kid over this, you merely confirm some other board members' opinions of your level of common sense and reasonableness.

Personally I believe you are just someone who is unsatisfied with himself for whatever reason and chooses to criticize others behind a keyboard and never risk yourself because you realize your own failings as a human.

When you become a participant in life rather than simply a critic, I will be willing to discuss this with you further.

1) Be courteous.
2) Don't try to hurt anyone's feelings.
3) Don't act like you know about things you know nothing about.
4) Don't say (type) anything you wouldn't say to a person's face if no one else was watching.

bulbboy,
We can technically run this site as we see fit without any concern for your opinion.
If we choose to talk openly and not let you, that is our prerogative.
Now having said that,we *do* take everyone's opinion into consideration and you will never be at risk for offering a well formed opinion as long as you follow the above guidelines.
It's a simple as that.

Since you want to bring forth the fact that you were publicly warned by moderators:
If you reacall,it was about the tone of your posts toward LEOs throughout your history on OSA,not because of your opinions on the law.

Mike never physically threatened anyone.
"Kicking someones ass" is typical competition smack talk.

Let's just leave it at that, and what difference does it really make?
tweeter is no longer a problem here.

I have nothing else to add - since you already read my posting ten minutes before this one (keep your okshooters thread) where I stated everyone needs to stop the bashing and going back to having fun. And that if you need to bash anyone feel free to bash my beloved Cowboys! Since I know you already read that since you posted there after - thanks for ripping me again and again. Now, lets go back to having some fun on this site.

As long as EVERYONE is held to the same standards, I have no problem. I see the double standards, I think others do too.

I also realize that some of you are the type to spout of with "If you don't like it, don't read it". Yeah, well, that's a two way street too.

I also realize that this is "house rules" apply and all of that jazz. I'm glad to be here and this site helps pass the time at work. I've also gotten a couple of good deals off of this board.

However, those that dish it out need to be prepared to take it as well.

Until next time, rock on. :)

nobody "ripped you again and again" and that attitude is exactly the thing we were discussing the other night, privately.
