My grandparents took me fishing when I was very young. I know because there are pictures. I haven't been fishing since.

I think it would be a blast, but when you walk into places like Academy or Bass Pro, there are thousands of fishing poles and lures, etc.

I want to take my 7 yr. old, but I don't even know where to start. I'm sure if I told the guys at the store, they could hook me up with what I needed to start out.

All I need is a new hobby......haha

Quite a travesty!
You need to get out more.

I'm afraid I'd become a big liar:

My situation is much the same as Steppers

I don't worry - I have a long john silvers down the road.

There are 2 kinds of fishing. One where you spend a lot of time and money getting the equipment and supplies ready to go, and make it a lot of work trying to catch fish. All professional fishermen to this. Then there is the fisherman like me. Go down to the creek in the Spring or Fall when the weather is nice outside. Get a pole, line, and some worms, and throw out your line in the water, lean back against a tree, and listen to the birds and frogs sing. If a fish wakes you up pulling on the line, pull him out, otherwise don't worry about it. I find this very relaxing. :)

That sounds fun!

I wouldn't know what to do if I even caught a fish!

I used to be one of those guys who hauled 3 rods, 2 tackleboxes and a few tons of other gear around. Got to the point it wasn't much fun. Now I have one ultralight set up and a little one sided clear plano utility box filled with a dozen inline spinners. I just keep it in my truck so I can go whenever the fever hits. I was down on the Canadian this morning down below the last lock. Didn't do great, but managed to annoy 3 sandies and a couple of blue gill. Beats working.
