I think it would be cool if somebody could come up with a generic letter to send to these businesses that have the "NO guns" policy on their door. That way, we could just insert our own info to the letter and send it to that business. I'm not the best writer, or I would do it myself to post here.

Can anybody here do that?

I wrote a letter to Evans furniture explaing why I was spending my money with their competitor and sent them a copy of my receipt to prove it.
I also explained to them that the CCW demographic were the "money spenders"
The signs came down.
Coincidence?

Yip. Everytime I go into a store with that sign up, I could come home print off the letter, put the store's info in it and send it off. I would also post on here where the store was so other's could send a similar letter too.

I bet there is somebody that could write a really good letter for us........

I know the perfect guy to do it. Our very own Michael Brown. That's right, he is part of the most highly educated police force in the nation. <---His words not mine. :) Michael is also a world known "Jedi Wordsmith". I know, I know, Mike I wasn't going to say anything but I couldn't help it.

Such things exist on a website by a carry group in MO, I'll try to find it. It is more like a business card to leave, but it's a start.

How is this for a start...

Dear Management of Business Name :
During a recent visit to your business, I noticed a sign at the entrance prohibiting the possession of firearms on the premises. While I respect your right to deny entry to any person for any reason you choose, I am disappointed in your practice of discriminating against those who legally exercise their second amendment rights.
As a holder of an Oklahoma Concealed Weapon License, I have been through training which included the Personal Defense Act statutes, the justifiable use of force, places a handgun may not be carried as well as handgun use and safety. I have proven my competency in handgun use and safety by undergoing live fire training with an instructor certified by the National Rifle Association. I have been investigated by the Sheriff of the county in which I reside as well as by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and approved on the basis of a clean criminal and mental health record. I have been photographed and fingerprinted, and copies of my fingerprints are maintained by the OSBI as well as the FBI. I continue to train to keep my proficiency level at its peak and am constantly reviewing the law to ensure I operate within its boundaries. I am a law-abiding citizen who respects property and life and pose no physical threat to your business, your employees or your customers unless they are threatening my life or the lives of my family. How much do you know about your other customers? Your sign does nothing to prevent a violent criminal, who is likely to cause harm to your business, your employees and your customers from entering the premises and carrying out their evil intent.
As long as it is your policy to expect legally armed and honest citizens to give up their personal security while doing nothing to guarantee that security yourself, it becomes a matter of principle and I have no choice but to discontinue business with your establishment. My dollars will be spent with a competitor who does not view me and others like me as a threat. Please do not expect my business until your policy changes and your offensive sign is removed.

Sincerely,

michael

here's an another.....

Regarding: Prohibition of Concealed Handguns

Dear Business Owner/Manager:

This letter is in response to your policy prohibiting concealed handguns in your place of business. My wife and I have both received licenses from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, permitting us to carry concealed handguns. This was a time-consuming and costly process, which included a thorough background check, as well as an eight-hour training course on the "law" (Oklahoma Self-Defense Act) and handgun safety. We went through this process to carry concealed handguns legally for self protection.

We do not believe criminals obey State or Federal laws, or individual businesses' policies restricting firearms. Therefore, we believe your policy will only restrict law-abiding citizens from entering your place of business with concealed handguns. It is because of this belief that we regret we will not be doing business with you any longer. Thank you for your consideration of this letter. Your response would be welcomed.

Sincerely,

Those sound good.

I went around and around on the phone with Cholmia's one afternoon expaining how I could not buy my wife the $400 palm tree she wanted because of their poilcy.

The guy told me that they didn't want the store to be like the "wild west" :rollingla

He also said that he didn't have a problem with "me" specifically, because I 'sounded reasonable' but he didn't want his employees carrying and if he let the customers carry, then he would have to let the employees carry as well.
Of course,I told him that was fine with me. ;)

We didn't get the palm.
