since Polls seem to bother alot of people how about adding a section dedicated solely to Polls and then blocking them from being used in the general discussion area

You should probably make this a poll.

I don't like the idea because I have a pattern of looking at the general discussions, the classifieds, and that's it. I'd end up missing the polls because of this habit.

Oh here we go again, changing things to fit the whims of the minority again. Sounds alot like the gun grabbers philosophy.. a few of them dont like guns so they want the rest of us to do without them too.

how is this the same we are not saying do away with the polls we are saying move them to their own area so that the general discussion area is a little less cluttered, if anything i think it would organize things a little more they would still be on the front page and anyone who wished to participate in or start a poll would still be allowed.

What's wrong with just ignoring the damned post if you don't wanna read it? Does it "clutter" up the viewing board to much? Does the very sight of one of bestseller's polls make your stomach churn? Would you rather see another pic of MajMalfunctions shameless and totaly asinine ammo stockpile? For the love of God fellas - here's an idea...if you see a poll and don't like it - DON'T OPEN IT!!!

For what it's worth - I enjoy bestseller's polls. I know I give him hell about 'em, but I admire a person who's wheels are constantly turning like his. :respect:

J/K by the way Maj. As much ammo as you burn up in them full auto toys of yours - you NEED that shameless and asinine pile of ammo. :thumb:

actually the point is that if all the polls were moved to a polls area they would all still be available for everyone that wished to participate and it would free up a lot of the page 1 General Discussion area for just that a general discussion

no one is suggesting that we completely do away with polls just move them to an area dedicated for them

i enjoy searching the want ads even though i will probably never buy half of what im looking at (mostly because my wife wont let me) but we have a dedicated section for that.

maybe brennan was right maybe i should have posted this in the form of a poll and left it to the majority of the site vote on except for me because i do normally just skip over them but i also rarely go past the first page either

Pretty reasonable suggestion if you ask me. I mean honestly..... you have many polls that are much ado about nothing.... which is fine but lately the general discussion forum sucks because of it. JMO.

I agree.

A few of the other places I go to have a poll section and it is nice to just go in there once a day and view the polls.

It would not matter so much if it did not put the poll on the top with every vote.

Whether I follow a thread or not depends on whether I think the subject and the first line of the parent post looks interesting to me. I don't care if it includes a poll or not.

For me, its more important that the topic relates to the section it's posted in. If there was a separate section for polls, and I want to read about CCW, I have to read the CCW section, then go look around in a poll section to sort through polls about whether Stoops or Gundy has the best hair to see if there is also a poll and thread about CCW topics.

That's the part that gets me.
