View Full Version : H.r. 218
Just curious, does anybody know status of Oklahoma efforts to comply with H.R. 218 (retired officer concealed carry)?
From what I can gather, with the exception of the promise of nationwide legal carry, it'd be more of a PITA than simply obtaining and maintaining an OK concealed carry permit, reciprocity not withstanding.
Anyway, to show you how much I know, just learned today the law passed over a year ago...........

during my legal update this year they advised they are working on a yearly qualification for retired officers and active officers.
that will bring oklahoma up to the federal standards.

I thought Cleet already require yearly for leo's? I know several dept's just allow their retird to qualify with their retired commission.

CLEET only requires you to qualify during the academy. Your department policy may require it after that.
Yep, until and unless OK comes up with a certification protocol for officers who retired from out of state agencies, I'm out of luck.
As I understand the Act, I have certfy with a CLEET course in OK or submit to CLEET proof of qualification on a non-CLEET course that CLEET would accept as meeting their standards.
I would travel home and go through a qual course with my old department...IF..I knew CLEET would certify it as having met the standards as required by HR 218 and pronounce me "good to go"....
Don't think OK is there yet.
