For those who carry with an IWB holster, what position do you put the holster; e.g. 3o'clock, 4o'clock, etc?

Do you carry at a specific position due to comfort? If not, what other factors caused you to move it from the most comfortable spot?

Obvisously we should get several different answers due to different body types and so on.

i carry at what I could best describe as 4:30.
Perhaps someone looking at my pic can correct this.

I carry there because it allows me the best drawstroke.
the grip of the weapon isn't as tightly against my body in that position so I have better aquisition.
Moving the gun from that position to 4:00-3:00 the grip is tightly against my side, hindering positive aquisition.
Training literally becomes a pain in the side when you do 100 presentations and your side is bruised from thumb jabs. ;)

I would actually prefer the holster to be a little more forward on me but again, positive aquisition is the most important thing to me.

This is of course with a VM2 and the CTAC,for example,is a little more forgiving of different positions on my body.

I carry around 3 to 3:30. Its funny, but sometimes it depends on where the belt loops are on a particular pair of pants. The VM2 can straddle most of them, but when I use my PCH or TSAP, I may have to move the holster according to the belt loops.

You've seen my body type (nothing but pure muscle), so I hope that helps.

Good point about the belt loop positioning.

I carry around 3:30.

For me, I don't have to feel it in my back when sitting down. Plus I like to have my elbow easily cover it in case of getting hugged or "for fun sucker punched" by friends.

I did have a gal employee-friend give me a friendly punch right on the gun a few weeks ago. It hurt her hand a little. I thought it was funny and told her it was my phone when she asked.

My annoyance with belt loops is the magazine on the other side. Sometimes it's a little too close upfront or goes a little to far back. But that's life.

I still don't know how you guys tuck in shirts with IWB, but I'll learn soon.

experimentation with the right clothing.
I rarely 'tuck' though.
I *did* get backhanded in the gun by a guy at work, while smartcarrying once.
I guess he thought i was glad to see him. ;)

Good point about the belt loop positioning.

What about my point about the "pure muscle"? :ugh2:

I was standing in line at KFC this summer and my pastor came up and gave me a hug and he had to have felt the gun. I stood there stiff as a board, didn't even put my right arm up. I almost had a heart attack. I was also prepared to tell him it was a cell phone.......

9 or 9:30, any farther back and I feel like my CZs butt is sticking out farther than mine.

I'd go with that. :)

I carry one generally as close to 3 as I can (based on belt loops). Why? I have been carrying a gun for now on 29 years. I started with a .22 on the farm. I started doing rmed security/investigations at 21 and have been a cop for over 18 years. The gun is always in that location. I dont have to look for it. If i need it it is there without thinking about it. I use to try different methods but that is really stupid. Find a place and carry it.

3 O'Clock. Mine thin body needs all the help concealing I can get. As I start progressing towards 4 and 5 O'Clock the frame starts printing on my back pretty bad during movement.
