Yea, I know......
But we get quite a few here on the forum.
If this is something that is added, you can bet I'll spend some on my knees and mention each one.
Prayer has worked many times for me.

I thought about this awhile back but did not post anything. I think it would be a great idea.
i am all for religion and attend church regularly and pray multiple times a day. but out of consideration to those that are non believers i feel it would be as though we are forcing it down their throats. and while i disagree with their point of view on religion i do respect that it is their right.
now i know what you are all going to say if they don't like it they dont have to look at it but in the same instance we could have all read BS title a while back ago and just not opened that post but we all chose to do so and get offended at his remarks and his spin on the bible.
so i would say i think this is not a good idea for this radically diverse group.

Maybe we could do a sub forum and ask to view it if you don't ask to view it it would not even show up.

If its a separate forum why would anyone else care?

I don't see the difference between having a forum for prayer requests and having members submit a thread requesting prayer in the general discussion forum. As for me, I believe in the power of prayer and will honor the requests that I am aware of for prayer, according to the will of God.

I'm not a religious person by any means and I wouldn't find a prayer forum offensive in any way. If members would make use of it, I think it's a great idea.

To some people prayer is kind of a silly notion.
But when it's YOU that the doctor says the spot on your lung is cancer,
or it's YOUR child that just got hit by a car and is in serious condition,
or it's You're wife that left you for another guy.....
Well, for some it's all they have to hope for and hold on to when there's no where else to go.

I would prefer that they create a "Christian" forum or something of the like so that less threads clutter up the General Discussion area.

very very true and kinda funny that you state it that way as i am currently doing a study of acts chapter 27 which has the underlying message of when all is lost all you have is faith and prayer to get you by but we must still do our parts. very interesting view points from Luke
now since some of the anti religious people here have no problem with it and are actually for it. i would say its a great idea.

Some interesting double blind experiments about prayer for seriously ill persons were done several years ago. Numbers were large, and there was a significant (positive) difference in the patients who were prayed for over those who were not. Whatever one's personal beliefs, it seems to work.
While I am not religious in the conventional sense, I have no objection to any appeal for prayers on the general forum. Indeed, I may post a thread appealing for prayers that we get a shotgun forum.:)=kidding
I would be offended if prayer requests become a vehicle for humor like the recent orgy of polls. Polls won't hurt anyone's feelings (usually), but lots of folks take their religion very seriously. If they offer to debate some theological point, look out:nutkick:! But simply making fun of them is in poor taste.
As to cluttering up the general forum, prayer requests usually appear to be serious, and are not all that numerous. I really don't see the need for a separate forum. The hopeless clutter:bigeye: of the general forum is part of its charm. CB
I should just keep my mouth shut.........but.
I would not have a problem with it IF it was open to all religions

Copertop - you really should calm down a tad. I know you are new here - but we are mainly all friends and don't need to be yelling at each other...

I will not respond to copertop's outburst out of respect to those who view some of the posts on this thread as being anti-Christian.
I dont view them as that, only as preaching inclusion and tolerance of world faiths.
