View Full Version : Pay it forward

Some of the sites that I am on have a pay it forward forum. If you have something around the house you can't use and it may not be worth selling then you offer it for free. The catch is the person who takes it has to offer something to the board in return...
Just a thought

I tried to start one of those a few months back. Did not go so well.

I think it was because it just got lost in all the threads. If it was a dediated forum and threads could be posted that way I think it would go alot smoother and there for better. IMHO.

Just do what I have done many times on thefiringline - just stick it in the classifieds under "Yours for Karma (free)", as if you were selling it.
Possible suggestion if you do this: You may want to do what I do, and require the recipient of the free stuff to be a member of NRA or GOA so as to reward RKBA protectors, and not reward RKBA leechers. Yes, I make people show me their current membership card to pick up free stuff.
I'v given away a LOT of crap over the last few years, for both free and for a fraction of the value. Now I wish I'd found this forum sooner, so I could given it away to the good members here - oh well, there's some more stuff left and will be more as we go forward.
BTW, right now, here's some stuff you can pick up at my place if you're in a gun rights group:
-Howa 1500 black synthetic stock (stock only)
-Lots of .280 rem loaded ammo (loaded by someone else - estate sale stuff - no idea if it's safe or not)
-Lots of .308 brass
-Lots of .280 rem brass
-Shotgun shell reloader & some misc. reloading hardware

I'm in and I've got a lot of stuff! We take great pride in helping other people out and I can't tell you how much fun it is to see someone's face when you say, "Oh, you need one of those? OK, here, take it, it's yours." God has blessed me (TDSA Tulsa, Inc.) for 8 years now with a ton of great students and a loyal, dedicated group of instructors that are some of the best in the business. I'd love to be able to give back some gear that others might need. I have more holsters, mag pouches, gear, and shooting equipment than I know what to do with. I'm constantly trying to figure out ways to give back.
Let me know what to do. I'm in.

I've got an Mil-tech ankle holster for a G26 that I'll never use again. This thing is not high quality. I think it cost me $30 back in 2000. It's a generic holster and should fit any compact auto. Maybe even some revolvers.
I've also got a Fobus paddle holster made for a G26, but it also fits a G19. (and all other Glocks with this size frame.)
I'd prefer FTF, but I will ship if need be.
(This is not a precondition, but if anyone is feeling generous I'm looking for an IWB for a G19 while I'm waiting for my Sparks VMII to come in... wink wink. I'm looking to buy one, not necessarily be GIVEN one so I'll post this as a WTB in the classifieds as well.) :thumb:

Some of the sites that I am on have a pay it forward forum. If you have something around the house you can't use and it may not be worth selling then you offer it for free. The catch is the person who takes it has to offer something to the board in return...
Just a thought
Hey, J.P. since this thread was about getting a new "Pay it Forward" forum started, would it be better if it was moved into the general discussion now instead of suggestion box?

Why not do what some of us did that seems to have gotten this thing started, post in the classifieds. Make a title like KARMA GIVEAWAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE. When you have a deal with someone, have them post a new ad of their item, and then post a link to their item in your thread.

I posted an ad about an Uncle Mike's jacket slot duty holster and mag pouch for sale. I looked the mag pouch over and it's not really worth selling. So I'm gonna offer up the holster for a Karma giveaway. It's black nylon and fits a Beretta 92/96 as well as a Taurus 92/96. It's a good enough holster for "light" duty, but I don't think I would use it on the mean streets of Tulsa or OKC.

OK - here's what I've got - and to ensure that we get some activity going in this thread again, the deal is that you can only have one of each (no one can say "I'll take them all").
I've got one AR Gas tube (I believe its CAR length and I don't know who makes it) that I got in a pair from another member on here a while back and I only used one. Its up for grabs (but c'mon - put something else worth having up).
I've got one factory Smith and Wesson M&P compact pinky extension that I'll give up too.
Cheesy Tacti-cool laser (red beam) for airsoft/BB guns (I think its made by Daisy). It comes with the tail on/off switch, remote coiled wire pressure pad and a metal barrel clamp (and some sort of .22 or BB sized plastic rail clamp assembly). I got this for my kids Airsoft guns and it ended up being fun to play with. Batteries are dead, but it takes the cheap tiny camera batteries - not the big ones. Would be fun to play with on a BB gun or just with your cat/dog.
That's about all I can find now - I'm still digging through my crap though - we need to get this thing moving again!
Tulsahunter
06-18-2008, 06:09 PM

I've got a brand new Gladius Flashlight that can go to anybody that needs it. I have enough lights for now so I thought, "How can I make somebody happy during the Christmas season?" When I went out to my safe, I opened it up and right in front of me on the middle shelf was a light that I've never even opened, a brand new Gladius Flashlight in the box. If there is one of you out there that would like to have this for yourself or perhaps you know someone in Law Enforcement that could use a good duty light, just let me know. I'll even pay to have it shipped to you.
Merry Christmas.

"Karma" as you put it is, and always has been, very good to me. We put God first and serving others second and as a result, TDSA Tulsa has flourished. There have been many people from around here do all kinds of nasty, distasteful things to try to put us out of business. No matter what they do, it not going to work. They can try this and try that but it's not going to work. We have too many things going for us. They even called the Oklahoma Dept of Labor and had them start an investigation on us. That was pretty funny. That's how low some of these idiots will stoop. They must be pretty desperate to put us out of business. Maybe they want to put us out of business cause they aren't getting any?? I don't know. Sooner or later they will get tired of banging their heads against the rock. :hithead: We're not going anywhere! We're staying right here to serve others and allow them to have a good time while they learn.
See you on the range!

Nice Marshall. I still need to set up a date with you. ;)
I don't have much, but I do have an Uncle Mikes Baton holster in Nylon finish that I will give to whoever needs it. I was trying to give it to an officer, but none messaged me about it. It will fit all expandable batons.
First "I'll take it" gets it!

I was the recent recipient of the flashlight from Marshal of TDSA. Wow, dont mean to make you guys jealous but that light is awesome. I have wanted one of those for quite a while and luckily one fell into my lap thanks to Mr. Lutton. Anyway, to pay it forward I offer to whomever needs it an M4 style collapsible stock for an AK-47. My Maadi came with this and I personally don't think AK's look right with M4 stocks but to each his own. I will be travelling from Mannford to Claremore Friday 12/19/08 in the evening to drop my daughter at her cousins' house. I will leave Mannford apx 5:30 pm so I can stop off in Tulsa for a ftf on this. First PM gets it.
Thanks again to Marshal of TDSA for the light. It was a wonderful gesture of goodwill to give something away that could have been sold. I will put it to good use.

Just leave the mag out there, I could use it, but I'm in Tulsa. I'll take the collapsible stock though, and I'm in Tulsa. I'll pm you.
I have a QuakeInc.com rifle strap I bought last night and paid $30 for. It's camouflage rifle strap with the the padded shoulder (very nice & brand new). Can't figure out how to get it to work on my AR, so I'm throwing it out there for anybody that needs for any other rifle.
All my other rifles have one, just was looking for an AR type strap. PM me, I'm in Tulsa and will be here all day today then back on Monday.
I also have a wood buttstock & forestock for a Marlin 30-30 with a couple tiny scratches. I changed mine out to digi-camo, and thought somebody else could use better than me (even if you want to save it for a backup).
I love this "pay it forward" thing, I'll put more stuff up later. I have TOO MUCH stuff I don't use anymore.
