I have been thinking about joining the Tulsa Gun Club out on 56th street North - Anybody a member there? $85 a year and only $1 to shoot - seems like the best deal. Tulsa Firearms is the most convient but way to expensive.

Red Castle...

INITIATION (one time)..$150
CLUB DUES..................$ 95
* TOTAL....................$245.......NRA member first time total...$215

* If you are a NRA member you can deduct $35 from the club dues (also deduct $35 each time you renew). NRA members renew for $65 bucks each year (only costs a few bucks to be a basic NRA member).

No charge to shoot, just pay for clay pigeons used on skeet ranges & wobble trap (honor system). There is a fee to shoot the Sporting clays course which operates on Sundays.

$95 a year isn't so bad.
There aren't any screw rules like "No quick draw" or anything are there?

Join NRA and it's only $65 bucks a year to renew (I think the most basic NRA membership is around 7 or 8 bucks a year, but I could be wrong).

I've not heard of any "no quick draw" rule. Not saying there isn't one, but I can ask. I see one of the Red Castle club officers on a regular basis.

I asked about the "quick draw" thing this morning. The guy I talked to said it wouldn't be a problem as long as you kept it on one of the IDPA ranges.

I've let my membership at Tulsa Gun Club expire. Need to renew.

I like the pistol range. It is a 'hot' range, with no range officer. Most times I've been there, I've had the range to myself. Most other shooters I've had to share with was 2. Approximately 15 lanes. Outdoor only. They provide target holders and cardboard, and have a limited assortment of targets for sale.

Prices listed by straight69jack are correct. I believe you can bring up to 2 guests with you.

The only drawback for me is limited hours of operation of the pistol range. Open (I think, it's been a while) Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun. Tulsa County Sheriff trains there the other days. They wont let me use their moving targets!!!

Good deal.
I'll probably join after the first of the year.

bulbboy,

If you wait until July 1st the membership dues will be 50% off. Sounds like a great deal. Have to check out TGC myself.

Great forum.

Tulsa Gun Club is a great place to shoot. they do have weird hours and you can't shoot any rifle larger than a 22.

i joined North American Rod and Gun club in Coweta, but they have since closed membership to cap it at 500.

Has TGC changed their policy? I thought on Saturdays you could shoot any rifle.

Is that just for the rest of the year or do you get a whole year from then?

Bulbboy,

Not a member, but from reading their application on their web site, I believe it is for the rest of the year. Wait until Friday and save some $. Just a few days.

Would like to know what you think if you go ahead and join TGC.

This might seem a like a stupid question but is the Arcadia range nice? I'll be moving closer to that direction here shortly and just kinda wanted to get a feel for the place since I'll probably be shooting there.

Also what are the fees for the OKC gun club? I regret to say that I am not yet a member..... =-(

Absolutely first-rate. Any shooting discipline you want, they have. Archery, 600yd highpower, 50yd pistol with 25yd turning target racks (and maybe at 50 as well, I didn't notice), metallic silhouette, plinking, 300yd benchrest, skeet/trap, 100yd black powder, action pistol (IPSC/CAS). Squads/leagues for just about all of them, too.

Also what are the fees for the OKC gun club? I regret to say that I am not yet a member..... =-(
Membership dues the first year are $180.00. $100.00 is initiation fees and $80.00 is dues. The second and subsequent years, dues are $80.00. The first two years you are a member you are an Associate Working Member. This means that the first two years of membership you are required to spend one day per year providing some type of work for the club. This can be anything from helping with a match on one of the ranges to cutting brush and mowing. The club has several scheduled work days during the year and the various Divisions schedule workdays for just their range. You are responsible for making arrangements and completing your workday obligation.

After you have been a member for two years, you will have an option for four different types of membership:

1. Associate Working – What you have been for the past two years. Dues remain $80.00.
2. Associate Non-Working – You don’t have to work but dues go up to $160.00.
3. Senior Working – Senior membership doesn’t have anything to do with your age. A Senior Member may hold office and may vote in elections. To become a Senior Member, you must be recommended by another Senior Member and pay a one-time fee of $100.00. You will be given a stock certificate that can be turned in should you leave the club and the $100.00 will be returned. Dues for a Senior Working Member are $70.00
4. Senior Non-Working – Just what it sounds like except dues are $150.00.

Thanks for all the great info Flyboy... :) Sounds like I'll be right at home at the Arcadia range. They have way more than I'm used to seeing at gunranges. I'll also check out the gunclub as well ...it may be expensive up front for me and the wife but I think it'll pay off in spades....
