I have wondered the same thing myself. I have some neat .gif's I use on other gun boards but can't upload them here either as avatars or signatures. Maybe a bandwidth issue?

I third this option.

Also, I can see why our avatars are limited to 100x100 or 19kb, whichever is smaller when hosted on this site.

However, if our avatar is hosted on another site, using up that sites bandwidth, I think this is too restrictive.

How about being able to link to an off-site image for an avatar as well.
