just thought id ask.
i just joined december 9th.
ive already used the range 3 times now.

My dad's a member so I just go with him as a guest. We're usually out there 1-2 times week shooting pistols, rifles, and shotguns (not all at the same time though:D).

Do they still have the "requirement" of being a member of the NRA to be a member of the club?

walpur6isknight
12-21-2005, 10:55 AM
yes, as does the okc gun club. i think alot clubs are requiring a NRA membership before you can join.

I may have to break down and join again. I used to be a member of the Okc Gun Club when I was shooting competition and left the club when I quit shooting the matches. I used to be a member of the NRA and felt cheated when several of the gun bans passed without much NRA opposition so, I let my membership go. My biggest problem with Tri-city and Okc gun club is that I can't shoot my machineguns there. Other than that, I think they are great

well if the shady city of oklahoma city wouldnt have paved the roads out where my parents land is, you could have shot them there. okc comes in, paves the roads, and claims it all as OKC..........
i was out there shooting with some friends a while back and the man shows up, says we cant shoot out there anymore, cause its okc city limits. never mind the fact its a good 15 to 17 miles east of MIDWEST CITY city limits..... :screwy:

Don't know where it's at, but the City of Okc stops at the Pottawattami county line, which is also the eastern border line of my district. If it's past that, it might be Okc "mailing" address, but not Okc.

well when i was a kid it wasnt city limits yet. OR at least we could shoot on our 20 acres behind the barn into the extremely large berm, there in peace. (very safe place to shoot) the roads got paved, and then shortly thereafter the cops show up and tell us we cant shoot out there. its just before pot. county line. but when i was growing up it i didnt think it was city limits, we shot outside since i was a young child, and the police never came and told us we couldnt until the roads got paved........

That is sad Walpur, because you know if something happened (other than evil target practice) it would take OCPD an hour to get there. At least that's what the officer that came an hour after my mom walked in on a burglar told her in SE OKC. "I am the only officer assigned south of I-40 between Sunnylane and Harrah-Newalla road, sorry for the delay." Must've been before they annexed your neck o' the woods, so it's probably one cop for a bigger area now.

yeah, i mean, id be all for it if the could effectively patrol the area and respond to any serious incidents in a timely manor. however, as you stated skyydiver, most of the time they dont have the resources to really handle the load.

a friend had an incident with her x (she was living alone, and he came by to break in and do who knows what), okcpd was there within half an hour, pretty fast for just N of "little axe".... at least she had a firearm. she was genuinely in fear for her life and she shot at him, intentionally missed, and he fled.

there is a huge meth problem out that way. huge. i guess its everywhere, but one would like to think they could put some more resources out there. alot of it comes from out that way. alot......

It's a problem being out that far. When I need the PD for the rare occasions I arrest someone, it usually takes awhile for an officer to get there for transport.

I use the OCPD range too, but the only problem with that is no weekend access.

well if any of you guys ever want to go out there with me, you are more than welcome to.
michelle and i are tired of going out there by ourselves.
im planning on bringing a friend from work. hes in seminary[sp?], (going to become a pastor) and has led a rather sheltered life. he has expressed interest in firearms.

I used to be a member of Tri-City, but switched to OKCGC for the facilities (mostly skeet and IPSC). Tri-City is a great place, though, and far more convenient to me.

Unfortunately, my budget is tight for one gun club; two is out of the question. I'm always looking for someone to shoot with, though. One of my resolutions this year is to become a decent rifleman. Anybody else want to join me? Some friendly competition, progress monitoring, and encouragement?

i dont have a rifle as of yet..........
im saving for an m14. the only rifle i actually can say i like

I don't have much in the way of battle rifles--an old '03 Springfield, bubbafied and scoped--but it's been so long since I was decent that a .22 will go a long way for me.

I want an M-1 and an AR, but they're for much further down the road. I can buy a lot of ammo for the price of either of them.

walpur6isknight
12-24-2005, 04:06 PM
i figure if im going to spend 500 on a rifle and 2 to 3 hundred on a scope i might as well spend 1000 and get the m14....
i really like the fulton armory stock with the 4 way picatinny and adj. pistol grip stock.

Flyboy

Oh, I'll get there, I'm just going to learn to shoot first, while ammo's still cheap, before I step up to a real caliber. Just a poor broke college student...

I don't have much selection when it comes to rifles, but I'm always up for a shoot. I need a lot of practice. I've shot rifles a few times with scott_n_okc and others here and have always enjoyed it.

I've been a member since May . I hate indoor ranges and it's alot nicer than going to the Lexington range and alot closer for me.

That's not what they say at their orientation or what is listed on their website (tricitygunclub.com):

Who can be a member of Tri-City Gun Club?
To become a member you must meet the following requirements:
-Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States
-21 years of age or older
-A member of or have applied for membership in the NRA
-Not be a member of any Subversive organization, and may not have been convicted of a felony

We had a booth at the gun show in OKC this weekend and the guys from Tri-City were there too. You apparently do have to be an NRA member to join. I wish that I lived closer because right now I cannot afford OKCGC, though Jim and some of the other guys have invited me out. By the way, thanks to everyone who came by and said hello. I hope that everyone took one of the $10 off coupons. Let me know if you want another one. Hoov

Sorry Doc, we were stuck at the west end next to some flea market jewelry guy and the army tent. If you want one of the $10 off coupons, the guys at Tri-City took a bunch. If they are out, pm me. Hoov

Thats wrong,
You must be a NRA member and rightfully so, imo.
Who else stands up for our 2nd amendment?

you don't have to be a member of the NRA to join Tri-City. They want you to, but it is not a requirement
