If your using Firefox on a broadband connection...this will speed up your browsing significantly.

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (double click the entry to change)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it " nglayout.initialpaint.delay " and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Well I have to say that so far that does seem alot faster. I have 5 forums that I have up all at once and it seems to load the pages faster than it was. :thumb:

Just open a new tab and apply the changes described. It is easier than you think.

Thanks a million! :thumb::thumb:

I just hope we didn't just re-configure our systems to email all our credit card numbers and passwords to Chase. :)

The last two items listed were the only things I had to do, the first two were already done. It does seem to be much faster.

Perfect! Now, some sites dictate that you use IE (my wife's indian tribal site, for instance). Any speed up fixes for that otherwise useless beast?
