Hey Mike, I would appreciate some input.

Here lately, I have noticed a MAJOR flaw when drawing my G19 from concealment. I practice approx 3 times a week at home with an empty pistol, draw, dryfire, pause, reholster.

The problem. Recently when I have practiced, my weak hand has been doing bad things. When I bring my weak (left) hand to the support position for a two handed grasp, my pointer finger catches the trigger guard. Meaning, instead of wrapping around below the guard, it goes into the guard. :nono1: :nolike:

I end up with my strong hand trigger finger along the frame, where it should be but my weak hand 'trigger finger' inside the guard. This has only happened a few times, but enough to make me a bit apprehensive.

It is probably impossible for you to critique me without seeing my mechanics in person, but any ideas or suggestions you have would be great!!

Thanks-
Jerrick

Practice drawing and engaging stronghand only from the 2:00 position as Mike spoke of in one of his "Staple Drills" columns.

Sorry for the late replies, but I've been out of town for Christmas in the land of communism trying to spread the word to the heathen masses.

Its tough to diagnise a problem online but my first thought is probbably that you need to break the draw down into smaller segments until you are 100%, no possible mistakes, dead-nuts proficient.

In our Defensive Pistol class we teach a six count series of draw segments that I still begin all of my dry-fire sessions with.

Most folks just draw and fire but, in my opinion, this is an inefficient use of time. Isolation of the components of the drawstroke leads to perfect kinesthetic alignment and perfect handling.

Thanks for the reply, and good to have you back in the land of the free. :wink2:

Sounds to me like I need to save up and attend one of your courses. In the meantime, I will do my best to slow down and eliminate any errors I can detect.
