I work with an guy who used to be on the houston pd and he was telling me about a MAPS (i beleive was the word) training simulation. Were they attacha infared light to your weapon and you walk threw simulations in real time. He tells me it is very intense and you get checked out right after to check your heart beat. He said if I ever geta chance to shoot it it will be an experince.
If i am wrong sorry but does anyone know of these?

I've been through almost all of the various simulators.

Range 2000 and its subsequent model are the kings. FATS is a decent alternative.

That said, nothing beats force on force training. Decisions made live as opposed to preconceived and three-dimensional are very different than the simulator and a much better training experience.

The reason departments like the simulators is that they are less consuming in terms of manpower and much easier for the instructors to utilize than FOF, not because the training experience is better.

FOF also takes well-trained instructors and actors to make the simulation effective and very few are able to do this effectively.

Fortunately, you live close to one of the few training organizations that offers this type of training to non-military/LEO personnel. :wink2:
