Whenever somebody replies, I would like to know too.
Eric or Jason, what does OPS usually sell 5.56 for (case)? I would like some quality bulk ammo also....

I'm curious too.
Brigadoons or Sportsmans Warehouse (-5% on a case) would be 2 good places to check.
I think OA sometimes has XM193 for $96/case.

AimSurplus (http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Specials.html) has A223AM Adcom .223 62grn M855 Ball on sale with free shipping till 01-27-06 its $90 for 500 and $170 for 1000 and shipping is free.
Edit... Added note you may want to browse ar15.com as their is some mixed reviews about this ammo. Some folks love it some hate it. Its not the highest on their ammo Review and Refrence (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=169729)

Good info there.
The XM193 (boxed) scored highest w/WWB being a close second. Those are what I've been shooting lately. OA had those[xm193] for $96/500 case last time I was there.

May not be the cheapest but Wally world sells Remmington brand 55 grain JHP .223 for 3.99 a box of 20, thats about 20 cents each. Thats what I usually feed mine.

Wama-Lart also has 40rd value pack WWB for $7.58 which saves a little over their Remmington.

OPS has 200 rounds of Remington 55 gr FMJ in 10 boxes of 20 for $35. That works out to be $175/1000 rds. I don't think it is as hot as XM193, but it shoots well and is pretty clean.

I picked some of that up last week. Didn't know if that was a regular price or not. This is some nice ammo and a heck of a deal if you compare its price to online.

$3.09 for Wolf copper w/polymer (not lacquer) at Sportsmans Warehouse. Buy a case and it's 5% off or $2.93/box. Not a bad deal for something local and these can be used in in-door ranges (steel case, but not projectile).

Academy has the Monarch (Barnaul) ammo for 2.86/20. I find it to be better ammo than Wolf.

It's a little cheaper too, but unfortunately they don't allow it at the indoor range I use.

I shoot this as well. It is very good quality .223.
I buy it once a year and usually get about 6000 rounds for $160 per 1000.
If you buy $800 or more from them, they ship it free to Oklahoma. Thus I do it once a year and am set.
By the time you figure in tax, its only about $5 per case more than Bernaul and you get brass cases innstead of steel. I won't shoot steel case ammo in my AR so its a no-brainer for me.

Is it range friendly (pass the magnet test) ?

I have no idea, as I ont shoot at ranges that require such ridiculousness.

If you are referring to the Canned Heat, then yes.
It is spec'd similar to XM193.

The Wal-Mart in Anadarko had some Federal 50 grain. For 48.95. 200 round value pack. The primers were sealed. Maybe you guys could do a group buy for some canned heat. Save the shipping. Ammoman has some fair deals on .223.
When they have it, I prefer the XM193 at OAS as we do not carry it. I do like the Black Hills 223 stuff we have. I won't shoot Wolf et al. The 5.56Winchester white box is decent too. I have not tried the UMC yet.

I think the seemingly universal regard for WWB is misplaced.
I think its some of the dirtiest stuff around. In the Stoner platform, that's the death knell in my opinion.
I'll shoot the pistol ammo in my Glock since its one of the most forgiving platforms around but in my AR, I try to stick to high quality, clean ammo.

I absolutely hate WWB in every caliber Ive tried. Its nasty, inaccurate, and inconsistent, and not really that cheap. There are much better choices. To be honest, I shoot more Barnaul and Wolf than WWB.
However, with XM193 at 4.00/20, I rarely shot anything else. Too cheap not too.
Magtech is very good ammo, at a pricepoint lower than WWB. Much cleaner, much more consistent.

I agree Michael I am not much for WWB. I have shot about 300 rounds of the Remington That OPS sells and its a steal imo at 35.00 for case of 200 thast 3.50 a box for remington brass.
MB, WWB is only decent in that it goes bang. That is what I meant. I put their pistol ammo only one nothch above Blazer. I am old and lazy and hate to clean guns more than I have too. WWB is reliable and a good deal when it is cheap.

On the other hand, I happen to like the WWB for my Kimbers. Kind of dirty but I clean all my weapons after each use. Habit after 23 years in the Army. My experience with Magtech has been: BANG! Where'd it go? Look out! AHHHH!

Thats interesting, as the Magtech is a very accurate round in every caliber Ive found. Ive shot thousands of the .45, hundreds of .38s, .32Longs., .380s, and .40s, all with great success. It is definitely better ammo than the WWB, IMO.
