View Full Version : Oklahoma Check When Purchasing Firearm
When you buy a firearm in this state, the FFL dealer calls in to check your name. I assume they are calling OSBI, correct? Does OSBI keep a record of how many weapons a particular person has purchased? Or, is the check merely to make sure there are no warrants, convictions, or other impediments to your purchase?
Some folks buy and sell a lot of firearms and I can't help but wonder what records are being kept at the state level as well as the federal.
Just curious.

*In theory* all they do is call in to make sure you are legal to buy the firearm. You do have to fill out the yellow page (which is now a white page) that the dealer keeps forever (or until he goes out of business). According to law, the NICS checks are only kept for 24 hours.
Assuming you trust the .gov to follow the rules.
And no, they call the Feds, not OSBI.
And no, they don't keep track. . .so long as you only by one every X days. . .
They call the FBI NICS center.
Anyone who thinks they don't keep track is kidding themselves.

They don't keep records. Just kidding...myself. :bigeye:
Very interesting. Now I understand better what is going on. I wonder how many guns you would have to buy to call attention. I once heard of a fellow who bought more than 100 weapons in a few day period to arm some rebel group in his homeland. The news alleged that no one noticed the level of buying.

Not sure.
I know that multiple sales are reported as well.
Why would they care unles they were keeping track?
I already have an FBI file so I don't worry about it anymore because it's just a matter of time before they try to get me to go along with some half-baked CIA scheme.

I think that they only have to keep the yellow sheets (white sheets) on file for something like 7 or 10 years, I may be mistaking though.
As for buying 100 guns, what is wrong with that? is there a law that says you cannot own or purchase more than say 5 guns? Come on now everyone with half a brain knows that you can buy off the record through personal sales. Anyone can walk into a gun show with a briefcase of cash and buy every "private Sale" firearm and go unoticed. Don't show this thread to the "News" because they may create panic on a slow news day.
The realitly of it is the system is really there to just appease the unfamiluar.
