Where do you hunt hogs at?

they're present almost everywhere eastern to south eastern oklahoma.. i've heard complaints that they're getting so thick, they're driving off the deer.. they can breed 3x a year 4-6 at a time...
only problem is, they're MUCH smarter than deer. 3rd behind only dolphins and apes smart... and can smell you better than whitetail. makes hunting them VERY tough, unless you get one that wants to eat you, in which case he's hunting you which really isn't what you want either. the top teeth act like a sharpener everytime a boar shuts it's jaw, the tusks are razor sharp, and will rip thru your clothes and tear open your leg to the bone in a single swipe. I've heard it called a "poor man's grizzly hunt" and your heart definitely starts beating hard when you realize that you're the one being tracked...

Sound like my kinda hunting. I know how smart they can be I used to raise them in high school. Me and some of the guys I work with are looking for a place to hunt hogs but I imagine we won't make it out until next year. So I guess that I'll just have to spend my hunting time on rabbit and squirrel hunting.

Jerms,
I'm a fellow bullet caster.
This looks like LY/ID #457122, designed by Barlow for A.C. Gould back in the 1890's. This is a very good general purpose light weight hunting bullet for .45 calibre rifles.

ayup, the good old gould express bullet, except i went extremely soft... 11 bhn. i use thompson red lube with a heater and manage to get it up to 1650 fps without leading... gives me just under a ton of muzzle energy

jerms,
IMO you're quite right to cast this bullet "soft".
The shape of the nose pin is such that if the bullet is cast much harder than your running 'em now you won't get reliable expansion.
