I went with a Lee Deluxe Turret Press Reloading Kit 4 Hole Turret w/ Auto Index. I really wanted a Dillon 550B but I couldn't justify spending $500 to start off. The kit includes everything needed to start out except dies and materials. I got dies in 9mm luger and 45ACP. Also bought Lee Modern Reloading Manual, 2nd Edition. All of that shipped to the house for $175. I guess building my AR15 is going to have to wait untill next year. :(
So if any of you have any tips of suggestions on reloading feel free to send them my way. I'm guessing you should buy the supplies local becasue of shipping and handeling fees.
Are you looked down apon if you scoop up as much brass as you can at the range? Or whold they let you go threw the picked up brass and get what you want?

most ranges don't mind you snaggin' brass... it's a pain to clean it up and de-cap it.. best investment i made was $16 for the lee hand press and the universal decapping die.. use that to remove the primers, then the brass is MUCH easier to clean...

Make sure your reloading manual is recent. I don't know the Lee version but I like my Hornady one. It gives well tested data for loading and good general information.
Check, check and recheck. Check measurements, powder charges and don't rush. I have a Dillon 550 and I stop to verify that everything is in order and check measurements about every 25rds. It is easy to get carried away and keep cranking them out. I like my guns and fingers too much to get distracted. When in doubt, throw it out. If you get confused about the cycle or you have any questions about the cartridge you just produced, trash it.
Enjoy your new press. It won't take long to pay for itself.
It is a good starter set and it's what I started with.
Buy extra turrets for each set of Dies.
I prefered to not autoindex and batch process, this allows you to visually check your powder charge etc.
A hand press and autoprime are good investments.
Eventually you will probably want to upgrade to a better powder scale.
Buy one more Load manual Lyman if you will be reloading Lead any of the major manuals for jacketed.
If you have questions post them here.
Take your time and enjoy!

Where did you purchase this at? I've been interested in getting started reloading for some time now and that setup sounds to be more affordable than what I've been looking at.

I started reloading last year. So far all I have done is .243. I was able to print a 3ring binder full of information from the internet which helped to narrow down/confirm loading information. I also purchsed the Lee reloading software. I has a good reloading data log that helped with keeping track of the different loads I tried, lots of other info on the cd. For $20 I think it was well worth it.
One more thing, Sportsmans Warehouse has a great selection of supplies.

Are you trying to say I'm going to blow my gun/hand up?

Since you are just starting as I am. I will start with loads I cannot double load. If the powder charge is close to the neck then you can see (Quality Control) all the loads. I don't have a turret press, one at a time.
I don't think you will blow anything up if you measure, re-measure, then measure again. Remember that beer and gun don't mix at the reload table too!
Good Luck!

Most ranges derive some income from cases; a good rule-of-thumb is to pick up the cases from what you shoot--which are yours anyway, but I would be careful about cleaning up everything left by other shooters. Discuss it with other shooters or the range manager first.

Welcome to group of people that probably on represent 3-5% of the nation. Your choice of book is a good one. Richard Lee's mind on reloading in pretty dang good. He has forgot more about this art form, than all on this board can try to learn in a life time. I used to only use lee products, but since I have switched to another press. For many years I reloaded many a quality round using their dies, scales and presses.
Good luck and enjoy!

I use AA#7 powder for my 9mm. It fills the case up so chances of a double charge will be messy and very obvious. It also is very consistent when dropped from a powder throw. I checked it with my digital scale. I also get almost all of my brass from picking it up at Red Castle. Be safe.
