Outdoor America had 40sw 500rds for $72.50. I belive it was UMC, but may have been something similar.
Brigadoons had 1000rds PMC 223 for $189 and 500rds Wolf 7.62x39 for $69.
Not the greatest prices, but decent for something you could pick up locally.

Hey, Dad bought a 870 @ H&H tuesday! All black, very cool. Where did you find that cheap ammo?

Do they have the UMC .40 by the box, or do you have to buy a case?

Brigadoons is an army surplus/gun shop in Del City. Good place to stop in and look around. It is close enough to my office that I can go at lunch.

Sunnylane south of 15th on West Side of road, just south of Sonic. I think they are open on Saturdays. I know for sure they are closed on Mondays.
They have a decent selection of used guns and a few new. The also have mil surplus long guns and lots of ammo, clothes, etc.

I didn't check, but they probably have it by the box (might be more expensive).
