Tonight was my first Bowling Pin shoot. It was definately a good time. If you haven't been out to the firing pin, you need to check it out.

Nice range, good guy, and fun pin shoot.

Well, How did you do ?
Or do you want to keep it on the down low ?

I think I was 4th out of 7 shooters. It was the first time I've ever tried any type of shooting competition. I had 2 good tables and plenty of slow ones.

The fastest table of the night was 5.44 seconds by yours truly. Unfortunately I didn't have near enough of those. Tom (firing pin owner) smoked everyone.

Do you think you could have done better it you were not timed?

And I have always wanted to know.........How many times can a pin be shot before it goes in the trash?

Sounds like I need to go shoot some pins too.

I don't think the timer bothered me. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. Nobody was rooting for you to fail. Everybody had a good time.

I was suprised to find the pins hold up really well. He had several cases of pins there, but we were able to use the same 10 pins several times over. Mainly everyone shot 9mm with the exception of a few 40sw. Next time I think I will bring a 45 and watch the pins fly.

How much ammo would I need to bring?

stepper
07-12-2005, 12:31 AM
Do you have to have a holster? The reason I ask is because I don't have a holster for my 220st or my gsr. I do have holsters for my other guns. I'm pretty accurate with the 220, but if you have to have a holster, I'd have to pick another gun.

DrBaker
07-12-2005, 06:33 AM
No holster needed. The winner will probably use less than 1 box of ammo. If you think you're going to miss, I would bring 2 boxes.

So ,you shoot til the pins are down?

If thats how its done, I'd have to bring 5-6 boxes.:D

DrBaker

I brought 3 boxes. I'm not a good shot and it was my first time. I took most of my ammo home. You won't need too much.

I should be ok with half a box then. :wink2:

If you hit 30 pins with 25rds, I'm impressed.

Actually, I have some practice to do. Its easy to talk big on the computer, doing it at the range is a different story. :gun1: :gun1:

I'm off this friday, I may try to get out there. Sounds like a great time.

Well, my wife wasn't too excited when I told her I was off friday night and I wanted to go out of town shooting. She already had plans for me. :grumble:

I'm working on it though.

Hope to see some of you for pin night.

I'm dying to get out there and give it a shot. I just never seem to be able to get away to do it. I'm actually off this friday night (which is rare), so I thought I'd be able to go, but the wife has different ideas.

We'll see what happens?????????@@@!!!!

DrBaker

Take the wife with you. She can reload your mags between tables! It would be like having your own pit crew.

DrBaker

You type good for a guy who's tied up.

Need a rescue, I gotta new Benchmade.

stepper
07-17-2005, 08:33 PM
I love my Benchmade. I have the mini-griptilian. It was about $75 and after Outdoor America's 25% off, it was around $45!

Which one do you have? They are great knives.

DrBaker
07-17-2005, 09:01 PM
I don't have one now. My carry knife is a no-name that replaced by S&W Millinium Run SWAT knife.

A few years ago, I found a benchmade at the gym. Some guy at work saw it and said hey I'll give you $65 for it. I had never heard of benchmade and had no $ in it. I thought damn I just got the deal of the century. Looking back, he probably thought the same thing.
