Here's some of the info from NRA, I got tired of looking at Matthews' name so I started a new thread.

I'm in also. I have lived in the Mcloud/Harrah for the past 20 years so I know that this is somthing that is needed. As far as I know there are no indoor public gun ranges east of Del City for several miles.

OK, need to generate some interest. I am looking into building a shooter's range from the ground up. Indoor/Outdoor. Somewhere out here in the Eastern part of OKC. No 3 hour waits for a lane. Anyone interested? This is America, and it all starts with a dream. I have a dream!!:)

I LOVE the idea of indoor / outdoor. I much prefer outdoor shooting when weather permits. And I much prefer indoor when it doesn't!

My wife works at the Casino in McLoud. I think the Kickapoos have bought up a lot of land out there. They might be wanting to dump some off. Of course that's a ways to drive, and I guess in Pott Cty.

Customer service is always the number one priority. I have been on the opposite end of bad CS for too many times to recall. This range will be built by shooters for shooters, period!!!!

In the last 25 years I've been very involved with the design, construction, and maintenance of a complete (200 yd. rifle, multi-bay pistol, multiple skeet and trap field, archery, etc) outdoor facility. It's a private member owned club in eastern OK, east of Broken Arrow. There is a lot to it. The NRA is an excellent source of initial range spec info and layout considerations. There is only 1 public range (Happy Hollow) in Tulsa metro. However, in the same metro there are 5 private member-owned ranges. IRS regs, under 503C7, make the private ranges an easier proposition. If a private range has too much income, over 37% coming from outsiders, it potentially alters tax status. Indoor ranges are expensive to operate and frequently go bust, as evidenced by the plentitude of used range equipment. However, an indoor range that offers the right mix of products will make it, if the business plan correctly meets real market condtions.

BK,
make sure you take into consideration the private clubs around the area where folks shoot. Theres more shooting oportunities than you might think in OK; you just need to own some land, or know someone who has land. I know theres many shooters that need a place to shoot, but realizes theres many who already have a place to shoot, and they would, like me, rather have minor surgery than go shoot at a public range.

that said, dont let me pee in your cheerios, go for it!
:)

Good points above, but there are a number of us who don't belong to private ranges and would use a public range even more if it were closer to us.

I'm sure you'd want to do a pretty good market survey and this board is a great place to start. I, for one, will definitely want to be a user.

I CAN use my dad's land, but there are just enough people around that I have to be very careful where I shoot (not that I'm not careful otherwise!) I would definately use a public range. Besides, it makes for a better place to have group shootings.
