I've read the rules and am thinking of giving IDPA a try with my new Glock 34. What would you recommend I get as far as extra mags, holster, etc?

I would pick up about 4 more of these cheap 17rd mags.

I think J.P. and some of the others have been using Ready Tactical holsters and mag pouches.

Good Luck.

I checked out their stuff. What do you think about their Conceal Vest?

Is their stuff better than Blade-tech? If so, why?

I use a 5.11 vest right now but Chris is sending me one of his to try out.
If it works as he claims,i'll relegate the 5.11 to fishing duty.
He says they are easier to draw from but I cannot accurately explain what he told me here so i'll just wait until it arrives and give a report.
It should be here this week.

To be perfectly honest,I don't have enough experience with Blade-tech to give an honest evaluation.I had one of their holsters for a short period and I didn't like it as well as the Ready Tac stuff.
The Ready Tactical gear really pushes the limit of what's legal in IDPA while still in fact being legal.
It's more lightweight and streamlined than Comp-tac gear.
That can be good or bad because you sacrafice durability but I've never broken any Ready Tactical gear yet. That applies mainly to the mag/accessory holders. The holsters are pretty rigid.

If you order anything over the phone, tell Chris Stewart "J.P. sent me".

Side note:
Ready Tactical is actually a sponsor here as well and when Kelly gets the advertising software fully enabled,we'll be seeing a few free giveaways from them.

Cool. I'll be looking at buying some "competition gear" before too long for my 34. I was thinking about Uncle Mike's because its so cheap, and Blade-tech too. I may have to really consider these guys too. Especially if they're gonna be one of our sponsers!!

IMO,you can't beat Ready Tactical's mag pouches or accessory holders.
He's got an IWB holster similar to the UCR as well but i haven't tried it.

Shot my first IPSC match today at Arcadia. Didn't do very well but had a great time. I'm hooked.

The mag pouches are straight drop.
If you contact Chris Stewart,he might be able to make something custom for you.

I got the vest this week.
It's called the Competitor III and it blows away the 5.11 vest!
No zippers to hang up,lightweight, and clears your gear cleanly.
They have two large open side pockets and one open brest pocket and are vented in the rear.
The vest has a drawstring in the back that you tighten to obtain the best fit/draw.
I don't have to do a traditional "sweep and draw",I just go for the gun and the vest is clear.
I recommend them highly.
