I'm no expert....
I read yesterday on GT (kalishnakav section)sp? that you can do a side folder very easily. An under folder can be done, but it is far more work to make it right. You would probably be happier buying one that is already an underforder.

Don't they look cool? I found three in the $500 range but really didn't start thinking about one untill later that night.

I gather that there are Yugo Underfolders n that price range that are good. I think to put one on a SAR, there are serious modifications (the Yugos are milled I think) that would make it cheaper to just buy the yugo...which looks like just what Doc said, so...why am I flapping my gums?

Centerfire Systems catalog came today and they have the Yugo underfolders listed for $399. They also have just the underfolder kits(stamped or milled) for 69.97.

Side folders on SAR-1s are easy to put on. Underfolders require drilling, knocking out the old rear trunion and reinstalling a new one and riveting that in place from what I understand. If you don't buid AKs yourself may I suggest Vector Arms underfolders. American made recievers (Armory USA from the latest word I got) with Polish and Hungarian parts. I have one and it is excellent.

They also have great customer service and helpful, bubbly, young women that answer their phone...always a plus.
Good Luck,
Cheers!
