A mule deer on Cooper WMA during blackpowder season. This was my first blackpowder hunt.

A turkey and a coyote that I called in, both from Ellis WMA. And a pic of a muley doe and fawns also at Ellis.

The pics look good. :thumb: I like the pheasants they are pretty in the field. Have you seen many mulees while hunting out west?

I would anyone who reads this, to go to a great website I was shown called http://www.qdma.com
It has loads of info on deer management, deer population, a forum, and general tactics to better the herd. The website is national, but it offers great articles on deer hunting. I have only been introduced to the site yesterday and really enjoyed it so far.

The reason I put this out is for the betterment of the our hunters. It is important to me to see our state population start to turn toward a buck to does ratio closer to 1:1. If this does not happen eventually our regulations will dictate 1 Buck and 5 Does bag limit. Besides does taste better anyway.

Our family participates in the Deer Management Assesment Program, which tries to balance the population by taking extra does each year. This seems to have made the Bucks in our area (Ellis County), grow to maturity. I have take two bucks in two years that are over 5 years old, and they have made good wall hangars. But our family has taken five years of work, using QDM and Oklahoma Wildlife Biologists through DMAP to make this happen.

Here are some photos on putfile.com of my deer.

My 2003 deer mounted by my brother-in-law.

Though I can't figure out how to get the picture on the forum still.

Thought you guys would like to see some of these(and these are just the small guys I shot). My in-laws have bagged far better, with at least one Boone and Crockett from the property. Several would make Cy Curtis if they were scored.

I've seen a few muleys, Oklahoma is not really the place to go if you want a good muley buck. I did see a good 3 pointer at Beaver River once that I couldn't get a good shot on.

Do you know of any good leases out in your area? I'd like to put a decent whitey buck on the wall. I primarily go out of state for mule deer, I just stumbled onto the one at Cooper.

My in laws tell me there are a few on the property we hunt. They hang out in the hills. I have not seen any myself. I would love to get my sights on one, just once! I enjoy the whitetails in the creek bottom the most though. At the ranch, that is where all the activity is. I live in Enid, and don't take the time to play in the hills like the rest of the family does. I don't live out that direction so I don't have any leads either, sorry. I will ask around, you never know what you I will come up with.
