looks like the bsa sweet 17 is a popular one
The Marlin is a good gun. I shot the Savage with the accu-trigger Sunday. It is a lot of fun! No recoil. None. Nada. The one I shot had the Sweet 17 on it. Once we figured out our dope, it was hyper accurate.

Walmart had both Marlin and Savage. Have no Ideal if it had that kinda trigger but will check into that. I really think I'll go with the Marlin this weekend. A bolt aution, bull barrel in .223 will be next and then I'm ready to take a little drive to the pan handle.

I like the Marlins a lot. The micro groove barrel really seems to be accurate. I do not know what to think of the T900 trigger as I have not shot that yet.

I have the Marlin 917v - I bought mine at the Wal-Mart on 91st and Memorial. I love it - I didn't care too much for the feel of the Savage as it felt small and like a toy (and with a .17HMR, you want a little bit more gun).
I love mine and have put quite a bit of goodies on it (there's a pic on my yahoo photos page here).

I don't shoot it too much lately though as I'm not much of a shooting-range shooter, I'm more of a farm plinker and this is a bit much for lugging around now that I have the bi-pod and thumbhole stock on it.
I had amazingly great groups with mine, but the bullet is so light that any wind seems to affect its accuracy over any kind of long shoot.
http://rimfirecentral.net is another good source of info about these guys (its not all 10/22s over there :) )
