Okay, I am freakin out. I have to have one. I had too much fun Wednesday with olyellers ARs and shotguns. WOW!

I might just have to fire sell the 2 guns I have in the classifieds just so I can hurry up and buy one!

Is there a cure for BRD?

Nope once diagnosed it only gets worse. Its incurable you can only try and treat the disease and you build up a resistance so you need more and more black rifles to keep the monster at bay. Sorry to hear youve been diagnosed. You may also check for local support groups in your area.

It gets really intersting when you build your own. Too many choices.

Let this complicate things too, There is more than 1 strain of BRD. The AR's are not the only ones to worry about.

I've only found one cure, but I'm not sure it's a cure.

I now have TRD and GRD.

I got the black one, then I got the tan one, I should have a green one by next week.

BRD/GRD/TRD and a very closely related strain....AKitis. All cause loss of sleep, depletion of funds, sometimes strain relationships, but you always walk off the range or out of the gunstore with a smile on your face. As mentioned...there are support groups out there of similarly aflicted individuals.
Enjoy:)

Cheers!

Has anyone else offered to build an AR with pink furniture for your wife, as an excuse to "need" one more AR?

is it a complete stag rifle? Looks nice. Now prepare to start dumping cash like crazy on accessories. Also there are some great deals on new mags right now at 44mag.com and dsgarms.com their has been a price war going on with mags for about the last month and a half at ar15.com anyway make sure you check those mags over real well if they are used. You don't want bad ones or ones that need rebuild kits.

LOpps almost forgot get a LULA loader those things make loading a breeze. http://dsgarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=177 they can be had around 20-21 bucks is the cheapest I have seen. DSG has black teflon mags for 9.95 which is a steal http://dsgarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=276

Don't forget that OPS has a deal on AR-15 mags right now as well. You can get any combination of three mags, 20rd or 30rd, for $39.

I am jealous. I want an AR-15 also. I'm not ready to sell any of my firearms to get one; but it may come to that. I don't even handle them at gun stores anymore b/c I may not be able to let loose!!! I don't dare shoot one. That would be very dangerous!

44Mag has the best deals on mahazines out there. 8.95 for USGIs, 11.95, IIRC, for USGIs with Magpul followers.

Get the Magpuls. They are a must. I wouldnt trust my life to any other follower.

Agreed on the Magpul followers. I've equipped all of my M16 mags with them as well as the baseplates. I'm getting two HK416 mags to see how they compare to the other regular mags.

I slightly disagree on this.
While they are better than the usgi greens, I wouldnt ever call them a must, unless Im in the sandbox. I havent had a ftf due to green usgis ever. And a lot of these mags were beat up.
and Ive been shooting AR's/M16's on and off for 17 years.YMMV.
-that said, my shtf mags have magpuls.

I have had worn, beat USGI mags fail with the green followers. Granted, they were well worn, but tilt they did. For the money, there is no reason to not use the Magpuls. I think I paid 8 bucks for the six of them last time.

The green followers are just fine. If you purchase a new mag and have issues with it. SEND IT BACK. Green followers work for the millitary and gillions of people out there than haven't bought into the hype. Their bottom plate replacements are nice but their followers are unesecary imo.

Thats ok I am in disagreement with lillysdad so the world won't come to an end. If I was in agreement with the two of you and gmthunder then we could be in the last days. :nutkick:

Well, good thing all is normal...lol.

Granted, the green followers do work. They even work well, and the vast majority of the time. However, I have had severely worn ones tilt, and the Magpul, by design, simply cannot tilt. They are a completely better design, and for the price, there is not a single good reason not to use them.

Personally, I would rather have fewer magazines with Magpuls than more without. Call me weird, but I still load only 28rds in a 30rd magazine.

Mack45
03-12-2006, 09:34 AM
I've got the green ones in mine. Never had a tilting problem. Haven't had a chance to try the Magpuls yet. I was thinking that not loading your mags to full capacity was more of an issue with the early 20 rounders than the 30s.

I have seen to many people bitching about magpuls needing to be cleaned up becasue of burs and crap on it. I will be d@mned if I am gonna pay money for a so called upgrade that I have to clean up before installing. as Cathy taylor would say "THATS CRAZY"

Ive never seen one that didnt fall right in if the magazine body is in good shape. I just dd six more yesterday, 4 Okays, a Colt, and an Armalite and all fell right in.

Wanna buy six like new green followers?

they guy at work hasnt been able to find his usgi mags :censored:
he didnt pay anything for them (he's ANG), i figured a jennings 22 pistol for all his mags would be a good trade for him. and a great one for me.
chad, were you talkin to me about the pink furniture? i dont think michelle wants an ar now. shes pretty much done with the whole gun thing. she liked them for a little while, now she is sick of them. i gotta go yall

My magpul followers fell right in as well with no modifications. I think that they will also make cleaning the mag a lot easier as well because the normal green followers you have to work them back and forth to get them out but the magpuls come out with no effort at all.

I attempted to cure my case of BRD last month. Purchasing a BR only brings on a severe case of BRUD (Black Rifle Upgrade Disease).

Since purchasing mine, I have purchased an EOTech 552 (I would've bought a 512 but I got this for about the same price), GG&G Accucam for the EOTech, Troy MRF-C forearm, Tango Down vertical grip, and a GG&G BUIS.

The sad part is I have already started looking for another upper (probably 24" for varmint shooting) and I'm starting to look at the VLTOR stocks and Tango Down grips...you know you just HAVE to have somewhere to store extra AA's for the EOTech;)
