Is it legal to open carry if you are in your front yard (city, residential neighborhood)?

I have a few buddies in my cul-de-sac, can I walk a gun across my yard to show the neighbor without having to load it up in a case.

Don't take the question wrong - I'm not looking to sit on a 4wheeler at the end of the driveway waiting to go comando on somebody.

title 21-1272 read it.
with unlawful intent-21-1278-felony
now in my opinion if you are showing it to your neighbor,i dont see a problem.carrying it down the street like a nucklehead will get you in trouble.my handcuffs go on real quick.

The way I read os 21 1289.6 (b)1. it is legal as long as one of the conditions in #1 apply.

When I move a long gun from my vehicle to the house or take it to the neighbors I try to be inconspicous (sp?). Gun to my side with muzzle pointed directly to the ground. I don't want to draw attention, but would like to know what others felt was appropriate.

What I feel is appropriate is the "Right to keep and Bear arms shall not be infringed".
Sadly,there are laws against it.

no,that doesnt give you right to carry your piece down the street-if are going down the street swinging your nunchuks, for example,at the little old lady ,you are carrying an offensive weapon.some weapons by statute are illegal, others can be at the descretion of the officer.how about this-that knife we all carry,is that an offensive weapon?yes, will officers arrest everyone with a knife-no.

I'm resurrecting an older thread here because it is related to a question I am tossing around. But first, I don't get the above post. Cap, what is that in answer to? I can't see where anyone asked if they were given the right to carry their piece down the street. Dr. Baker, you were talking about your yard right?

Now my question, which my heart says I know the answer to....If someone knocks on my door at 9pm (near dark-ish, we've got babies, and all our friends know it), and when the main door opens there's a guy with a pistol behind the glass(me), the cops would just tell them not to knock on doors at dark if they freaked and called, right? My house, I can brandish if I want? Any statutory or case law against this? Like Dr. Baker, I'm not wanting to answer the door Commando, just armed. :) Anyone?

people will take it next door, then across the street, then its 3 doors down where bubba wants to see your new piece-then someone calls the cops and says,"a crazy man is walking around the neighborhood with a gun,HELP!" its usually the snoop of the neighborhood.
i answer my door with a gun in my hand or baseball bat(alum.louisville slugger)
my friend was waiting on me the other day and thought he saw me pull up in the patrol car.he had this little drill he just bought and thought it would be funny to point it at me-only thing it wasnt me,it was an OCPD officer-luckily the officer didnt see him point the drill at him.i said you would have had a hard time explaining that one-hehehehe

I live in a cul-de-sac and 3 of the 4 neighbors that I socialize with live all in a row right beside me. I never cross the street or get out of one our yards.

The 4th neighbor lives across the street from the cul-de-sac. By the time I make it to the 3rd neighbors house, he has already crossed the street and came into the cul-de-sac.

If I keep the weapon unloaded, pointed to the ground, held against my side, no intention of making it obvious it's there, can I walk by and show off my new piece in the neighbors garage.

It's a sad day in America when law-abiding citizens can't exercise their Second Amendment rights without worring about being arrested. We just don't realize how much of our rights have been taken away. So sad.
