Now that you've had the sub XD for a while, tell us what you think. I've got an itch to get one and would like to hear your thoughts.

How does it compare to others like the G26? If you had a chance to do it over would you go with the full size instead? Any comments would be appreciated.

Tough question.

My dad has the 26 and I have shot it side by side with the subcompact.
I have shot about 450 rounds through it now without any problems whatsoever. Here is what I think:

The xd is a little thicker/bigger. My xd doesn't shoot point of aim, you have to aim at the 6 o'clock point. I thought my xd was shooting high until I questioned it over at the xd forum and they told me the manual explains that you must shoot at 6 o'clock.

The grip on the xd is a little thinner, which is good for me.
I like the trigger on the xd better. I like the grip safety on the xd.
The xd is easy to clean as is the glock.

The finish on the glock is better.

I'm afraid of mine rusting, so I'm going to have it hard-chromed this summer. I've heard too many scary stories over at the xd forum about rust to take a chance.

If I had it to do over, I would buy the glock 26 because:

*I have a glock 19 and they use the same mags
*holsters are much easier to find for the glock
*magazines are much easier to find for the glock
*the finish is better on the glock
*I can get the sights I want on the glock and not the xd

After saying all of that, I do like the xd and its a nice little gun. I would recommend it, but it would depend on if you're going to carry it or range gun, etc. I just really like the 26. I would like to have the fullsize, and I would buy one if I found a good deal. This little xd is "wearing" on me, and I am starting to like it more than I thought I would. Its a fun gun to shoot also.

I've ordered a Bulman IWB holster for it, so I can't wait until that comes in so I can start carrying it. I don't have a holster for it yet, so I havent' been able to carry it to see how I like it.

My dad is a glockman and he likes it. He likes his 26 more though. :)

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions, I'll answer the best I can.

For somebody with the 19 and 26 already, would you recommend they get the full size instead of the subcompact.

I find myself more accurate with my 26 for some reason. That's why I thought about the sub XD instead of the fullsize.

If you shoot the G26 better,it's most likely due to the position of the backstrap in your palm.

I hear that alot! I also hear alot of people say the same thing about the xd.

I would suggest the sub because mine came with a 15 rd.mag and a special sleeve that covers the extended part of the magazine. That will give you a full grip. You can just go with the regular 10 rounder, or you can shoot it with the extended grip. You can do all of that with the 26 too.

Of course, it depends on what you want the gun for. I like the sub because its so versitale.

So, which gun do you like better for carry between the 19 and 26?

Most of the time, I go with the 26. They are both excellent guns, but I have to pocket carry frequently and the 26 is an easy fit.

Is the 10rd and 15rd plus sleeve the normal accessories when you buy a sub XD?

The SA website says 2 10rd mags, but at Academy yesterday they had the 10rd and 15rd plus sleeve on the 40sw model.

I have the 2005 Springfield Armory catalog and its says that the sub comes with a flush 10 rounder and 1 15 rounder with sleeve now. The sleeve says "xd" on it, so its made by the same people that make their other stuff. Its not an outside vendor is what I'm trying to say.

My dad doesn't care for 9mm for carry, he usually carries .40 or .45. He bought the 26 around the 1st of the year just for a plinking gun or glove box gun. He now has several nice holsters for it and he carries it all the time. He just loves it! He shoots it better than my 19 also. It makes wish I had a 26, even thought there's absolutely nothing wrong with the xd. :gun1:

You've talked me out of a sub XD. If the 26 aint broke, don't fix it.

Now do I look at full size 4in or tactical 5in ?

Between the 2, I'd say the 5in. You already have the glock 19 and they are close to the same gun. That would give you something different.

You can't go wrong with the 26! Awesome gun! :gun1:

I was thinking 5in too. I had one briefly and traded it toward my G30. Love the 30, but miss the tacticool* XD.

Strangely enough, I consider the standard 4in model because I have a G19 and a Walther P99. Not sure why but I like everything to match. If that's not enough, I don't have any guns with OD, Stainless, or wood furniture. Everything in the safe is black on black on black.

Haha, thats funny. The other gun I was really wanting was the P99QA. I also wanted the CZ PO1, but they are all almost the same gun. They are both really nice, but I already have the 19 and the 239, so I don't need that size of gun. Of course, if I found a good deal on one, I would probably grab it up!

I still say my next gun is going to be the glock 38. :gun1:

:gun1: :gun1: The P99 is awesome. Let me know when you're going to be at H and H. I'll let you take the Walther for spin if I can put a few rounds down range with that sub XD.

I thought about the G39 for carry. I couldn't convince myself to do it since I have a 26 and 30 that share most of the carry duty. Also kinda hoping the ammo price will drop a little lower.

I've been to Outdoor America, and they have a good selection of ammo there. It was actually cheaper than some .45 ammo! None of the Wal-marts around here have any that I've been able to find yet.

Yes, if you have the 30, you really don't need one.

I had a glock 30, but I traded it with me dad for a Baretta 92 .40.

I liked the gun and it never had a hiccup, it was just too big for me. I never did shoot it very well. Great little gun though.

When it hits less than $10/ 50rd box, I will lose my excuse not to buy one.

If I'm not mistaken, they have some for about $9. something per box! Its very close to $10. Out of curiosity, I may have to go check monday. :gun1:

If it's 9 per 50rds, it would be as cheap as the 45acp I've been buying. Where's the cheapest place locally to get range friendly 45acp for my glocks?

I buy mine at Outdoor America. They have had S&B for $9.60 per box! Its pretty good stuff. No problems with it at all.

I pay $9.99 per box for Blazer at Academy. I'm there all the time picking up 9mm ammo anyway.

I buy .45 blazer at Academy as well along with 9mm. I like the aluminum casings as I think its easier on the extractors then brass(softer) plus I don't have people hounding me at the range asking "can I have your brass".!

I paid $8.60 for S&B .45 ammo today, plus 10% off that!
