View Full Version : IWB Question

I have a question... I was told that my HK 40 USP was too "thick" of a gun to be useful for IWB carry, so I never bought a IWB holster. I bought a FIST shoulder holster instead, which is really nice. But I only use it when I wear a leather vest, which it's obviously too hot out to wear. I was told that the 1911 model was the best for that because it was a "thin" gun.
Is anyone else carrying a thicker gun IWB?

Buddy of mine carries a Glock 30 IWB. Fat little bugger, that one. I would say wrap your HK in a cloth and put in in your pants at 4 o clock and see how well that fits. Could be you can find a really slim Kydex holster that wouldn't collapse on you. Just a thought.
I carry a G19 in a CTAC.
The combo is *maybe* slightly thinner than the USP.

Supposedly FIST makes a Kydex "high ride" holster that is supposed to be the highest ride holster you can get. But it's not IWB, it's outside on the belt. (http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/K2.htm) and it's supposed to be really good. I may pick one of those up. I love FIST holster products and they make them custom.

I do not have an HK but I have a SW P99 that I wear in a Don Hume holster made for an HK. Its about the same size cause the holster fits fairly well. The holster is a clip on.

The FIST kydex is a good holster that *does* conceal nicely.
I checked opne out the other day but it was for a P7M8
I'm considering one for my Glock.

I carry iwb both glock 30 and 21. I will never use a kydex iwb again. I like leather. I routinely hide the 30 under a t shirt using either the krammer or desantis holster.
I have a Don Hume IWB Leather holster, but use a Uncle Mike holster because I can wash it. The leather is ok if it doesn't get soaked with sweat a lot. If it does it gets smelling kind of rank.

I wondered about that. Seemed to me that the IWB's were pretty much always against your skin, and the leather would deteriorate quickly. Of course I can also see where the inflexible Kydex would be uncomfortable. Hmmm.
Here's the one I'm considering ordering:

Kelly,
you *REALLY* need to look into a Milt Sparks "Versa Max 2".
I've tried a whole lot of IWBs but this is the best in my opinion.
An OSA member let me borrow his for a couple of weeks and I am convinced that there is no better IWB.

I like the GWB by Alessi pricey but they last forever.
