Can anybody offer up the name of a gunsmith in southwest or central OK who is qualified, experienced, and able to work on Kalashnikovs in a somewhat timely manner?
I need a front sight block centered to 12:00 and have had no luck finding anybody to get it done.
Anybody? Throw me a bone? Bueler?? :lookaroun

Does this help you? It might not be what you are looking for but if it is, you could do it yourself.

Thanks, I've seen the fix and have been tempted to try it myself. No vice though has slowed that from happening, plus I have a tendency to break things I'm working on.
Contacted the builder and they are going to pick it up via UPS, fix it, and then ship it back. Warranty.
Most impressive Vector Arms. :thumb:

I can relate to breaking things I attempt to work on also..however, I was able to straighten a couple AK FSBs a while back with no problems...even for me. :lookaroun
Vector has good customer service and AKs.
Cheers!

I think letting Vector fix it under warranty is the best way to go.

n4z,
These were my rifles. If I goof up it's my problem and mine alone. :)
Don't know of any decent AK smiths around here. I've heard of a couple AK builders (read, hobbyists) around OKC but don't know their names.) I have had Dave Michener at Elite Firearms near Dallas do some work for me once and it turned out great. I would imagine he is very busy these days though. But he does good work.

Vector warranty work might be the best course of action if the rifle is still in warranty.

Ahhhh, I see.
Ya Vector warrants their rifles for 5 years and I've only had mine a couple of months. I just didn't realize they would make it so very easy to take advantage of that warranty.
I would say it's a good, but rare thing these days.

I've got a Vector semi Uzi and a Polish underfolder AK. Both are great. The Uzi had a weak recoil spring due to a bad batch of parts. They sent me another one in short order after they brought up the issue on an Uzi board. I like their customer service and the friendly young ladies that answer their phones :thumb:
I'm sure they will take care of you with the service and repairs.
Cheers!

Got the AK back from Vector today. All told it took 10 days (UPS brought it by Friday, but nobody was home), and it looks like they got it done right. The FSB is at 12 o'clock and it's been spot welded on the backside. Whatever finish is on the thing they went over the weld and it's not really noticable.
I'm jazzed. Looks like I might have to make a trip out to the range before this weekend gets here now. :yelclap:
