What kind of lubricant/cleaner do you guys/gals think is the best?
I have heard everything from Tetra to using motoroil. It's all too confusing actually and I'd like to settle this argument in my head once and for all.
Please post your thoughts......

I think there are many good types. Probably most any name brand setup will work (unless you have some out of the ordinary weapon).
I personally use the Hoppes kit I bought years ago. My guns are clean enough to eat off of and they are very reliable.

You will probably get many different answers but really for me Breakfree Clp and Hoppes #9 are all I need for everything along with a good bore brush.

It's funny how people that are meticulous enough to know (and care) down to the millimeter how far each round of ammo should expand for maximum wound capacity can be so un-opinionated on the type of lubricant/cleaner they use...... :P
I have heard breakfree before as well.
keep em coming.....

I didn't want to dazzle you with all of the technical specifications of today's hi-tech firearms lubricants because I think breakfree is just as good as anything else.
Breakfree and Hoppes #9 is basically all I ever use.
Occasionaly though,I'll throw in some of this to the mix...

No, no it's not. I'm not familiar with that kind. Wait a minute. I think I did see that gun lube in your range bag once, but I certainly didn't try it.

I use breakfree here and there, #9 and Mobil 1. After listening to a few friends that are chemical engineers I don't understand spending lots of money on gun lubes anymore.

Cleaning- Usually Ed's Red is more than sufficient. I might note that 99% of the bullets I shoot are not jacketed.
Lubrication- I use ATF very sparingly for pivot points (applied with a watch oiler), and for general lubrication. For the slides of range only automatics I use a good quality sodium aluminum stearate (aluminum complex) grease in NLGI #1 "weight". Keystone/ELF Zeniplex #1 is a good example of this type of grease. Again, use very sparingly. I've worked both in the manufacturing end of the small arms business and as a 'smith. I've seen far more in the way of problems resulting from too much oil than too little oil...
Preservation of blued arms. Clenzoil, again used very sparingly, does very well for me.

I would have to say that clp or breakfree is one of my favorites.
I tried a dry lubricant that I saw on another Forum and it seems to work good. I use it on my Wife and my CCW weapons because they are handled a lot.
