What's the difference? If a 1911 is chambered in 38Super, can it shoot - or be modified to shoot - 9mm?
Thanks

The 38 super is a much longer round, so you would be looking at a new barrel and maybe new mags. If you want to shoot 9mm you would be better off getting one designed to shoot the nine.

You'd have to buy a 9mm barrel and have it fitted to the 1911.

You need to check the breech. If it's too wide it won't make a 9mm. If it's .308 or less wide, it will make a 9mm. If it's wider, it has to stay a .38 Super. Don't try to use one of the nifty expensive dual spring extractors to made a wide breech work as a 9mm; won't work.
The heart of a 9mm in 1911 is the magazine. Tough to get working, but once you get spec's right you're running 100%.

ok, thanks. I didn't think it would work, just saw a gun advertised 9mm/38super online, and didn't know what to think. It has two barrels, two magazines, one for each caliber. Do you not have to change the recoil spring?
