Cheapest H&H friendly I've found was $6.86/box of 20 at Academy. They have some cheaper that's not indore friendly for $2 something a box. Looks like it's time to get another set of dies for me. :) Oh ya that was Monarch ammo.

Academy has Monarch for $2.86/box of 20. It rates higher than Wolf.

Wally World has Remmington 55g fmj for 4.79 a box of 20. What's the story on Monarch? Reloads?

Monarch is Russian Barnaul ammo. It's not reloads but usually steel case like Wolf.

Cheers!

Barnaul has lacquered steel cases like Wolf used to have, Monarch is private labeled Brown Bear ammo.

Don't be a hater. :smack: I shoot WOLF (there I said it and nothing bad happened) out of both of my ARs all the time. Whats wrong with good, cheap, plinking ammo? Please dont give me the old stories about it "gumming" up the gun. That was years ago and has been fixed. I dont want to hear about how the steel case will destroy your bolt/gun. If the ammo case is harder/more durable than whatever gun you are firing it out of then maybe you need a higher quality gun.
On second thought, dont shoot WOLF (said it again). Leaves more for me to shoot at a cheaper price:thumb: For example, last 2 cases I paid $125 per thousand.

I don't shoot Wolf or Barnaul ammo out of my AR's.

An option for less expensive, high quality ammo is Georgia Arms' Canned Heat. Its very clean shooting and plenty accurate for someone like me.

Its about $180 per thousand and if you buy about four and a half cases, its shipped free.

I easily shoot that much 5.56 each year so its a good deal for me.

Where did you get the Wolf for $125 per 1K? I am looking at stocking up on some for a course that requires 4,000 rounds of ammo.
