Well, I didn't think it'd happen, but here i'm putting my new rifle up for sale/trade.
It's a savage 111 series 300Win Mag rifle. This rifle has only seen 34 rounds in it's life (I have the brass to prove it ;) ). It has the original synthetic stock, and the barrel is floated from the factory. The stock has a very impressive recoil pad, which, in my opinion, make this rifle enjoyable to shoot. It has a detachable 3 round magazine. Jeweled bolt, Simmons Blazer 3-9X40 scope.
I bought this gun as a tack driver project. However, my interests have quickly shifted to the AR domain. If you were wondering about this gun as a platform for a long range shooter, here's a few things about it. The barrel is secured with threads AND a lock nut; this means the barrel isn't secured by tightening it on the shoulder as with most rifles. With this system, the head-spacing is basically set by screwing the barrel down on a head space gauge, and tightening the lock nut, rather than using a finish reamer/machining the shoulder to set it. A barrel wrench is required to do this. In addition, the bolt heads are changeable, meaning this gun could be re-chambered with essentially no machining (change bolt head and extractor, change barrel, viola!). I actually contemplated re-chambering this one to .30-06.
I'm asking $375 or equivalent trade in AR parts. I may be able to do FTF depending on location.
