I was at red castle today with some friends and was at the silhouette range and an off duty police offer was there and asked me what I carried. I had a glock 26 in a ctac holster in my right back side I pulled out the weapon and dropped the clip out of it with the firearm pointed downrange and showed him then reholstered. Another shooter came up to me and asked me if it was loaded and I showed him that it was and he said that he would appreciate it if I kept it aimed down range I said I was sorry if I did not and turned my back to the range a reholstered (since my holster was an IWB and on my back) he stated that I did it again and said I was a danger and left the range. I was at a loss and wondering if anyone could tell me what I did wrong. The only thing I can think of was that while trying to holster the firearm it was pointed down to go into the holster or that I was carrying it in a holster in general

That sounds a little "tick-tacky" to me??

When I hear crap like this, I'm so thankful for H&H gun range!

This isn't a reflection upon RC..... this could have happened anywhere.

I don't get what you did wrong? He must never carry or use a holster.

the only thing i can think of is that he feels that you are not supposed to carry a weapon on your person if you are at the range since it will not be pointed down range.:nolike:
RCGC is a cold range, meaning that you cannot have a loaded firearm( unless you are shooting) or have a clip in the gun, loaded or not. I think this is what he was trying to say.

We will find out when the next news letter comes out. Because I am sure he will tell someone and they will print it with a reminder of the rules.

Hmmmm...when I'm at a range I always have a loaded firearm on me ready to go. My thought is that I carry a loaded weapon concealed in general public, I'm going to damn well carry a loaded weapon at a range where everyone has guns. Not sure why anyone who is a gun advocate would have an issue with this. If anyone on this board has a different opinion I'd like to hear the other side and I'd listen with an open mind.

Am not a member at Red Castle but would tend to agree with what Rob said.
It is a cold range, meaning the only time a loaded gun should be in your possession is when you are on the line shooting. Just my 2cents worth.

Cold Range....empty chamber. Sounds to me like he's "tick tacky" as someone put it. Makes me glad theres Lexington Gun Range.....plus there's noone there to give you a speeding ticket if you wanna shoot rapidly.
A "cold range" should be meant for match conditions. I can address this with the board if someone needs. Like weveryone else I feel you would be crazy to not be condition 1 at any range.

I called someone on the board and addressed this with her and she stated that even when you are holstering the weapon as long as it not pointed at anyone it is still considered being downrange. she said that the member that confronted me was in the wrong.

Thats good to know, I was hoping they would come to that conclusion. Can you shoot from a draw at RC? I know you can't at Tulsa Firearms and that bites, how is a CCW person supposed to train/practice if we can't practice from a draw out of a holster? If you can't do it at RC, is there a Tulsa area range that you can?

Tulsa Firearms won't even let you shoot a close targets - no realistic shooting there or realistic prices!

I'll admit that I do and have several times recently. It's too muddy from cow tracks in the area I shoot at on the farm.
I don't do anything but pay them their $10 plus a few targets. All in all it works for me. Now, I haven't been to TGC or any of the other ranges, so I don't know maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

I have been going alot recently and with a few targets it costs me around $11, I mainly shoot 22s.
