Went to the monthly RCGC meeting at the indoor range, I was very impressed with the building. When they get it finished, it will be an outstanding indoor range. They have put alot of hard work into it.

I would like more details on this range too. I have heard that they have a .22 cal rifle range up and running and that the pistol bays are still under construction. However, I have been hearing about it for at least over a year. The range, as I understand it, is located just south of the Dodge dealership on 11th street. It's in a building that used to be the old ice plant. Does anyone know when they plan or estimate completion? How many bays will it be? Will the range use require an additional charge to shoot or will RCGC dues cover the use of the range? Tulsa definitely needs a range other than Tulsa Firearms. Details from somebody in the know at RCGC would be good! :gun2:

I think the indoor range fee is a couple of dollars, the .22 or junior range is open a few times a week in like 2-3 hour increments.

Ok, not sure when it will be open, it's work is progressing on a volunteer basis. If you would like to know exact time and prices email Rcgc for more information, I do know that there are restrictions for the caliber that you can shoot there. The actual building is the Ice plant across the street from the Dodge dealership, it's the main shooting range(that is not open), there is a white small buiding next to it that is the temporary shooting range. For official information about it email Rcgc.:bye:

Every member I've talked to that's been there for awhile has said it's been in the works for "years"...... dunno much more than that.

I heard about it it 3 years ago while I was at TU, thought it was great cuz it was just down the street... but it wasn't ever open at a convenient time.

The current indoor range is primarily for the juniors to practice. That is what it was and is intended for. As long as it is open and there are open lanes others can shoot. It is typically only open a couple of nights during the week for 2 to 3 hours. It used to open up on Sundays for a few hours in the afternoon but there were so few juniors and others who came to shoot it is no longer open on Sundays. If you happen to go and shoot you can shoot air rifle, .22 Rimfire rifle/pistol, .38 cal and .45 ACP as long it is an all lead round. The backstops are not built to withstand FMJ and 9mm and such rounds.

Construction on the new indoor range is still underway and will take quite some time to complete. The offices, meeting rooms and such are complete and look quite nice. The actual shooting side of the range is probably 3 years down the road. As it has been said it is all done by volunteer labor. When you have 5 to 10 people volunteer a couple of days a week it takes a while to complete such a big project. All of the backstops have already been purchased and waiting to be installed. Probably the two biggest projects that lay ahead are pouring the concrete floor and installing the air handeling system.

It is coming, just don't hold your breath. That's about all I know at this point. Hope that helps some.

We got a bunch of guys here that would like to shoot there, maybe you should organize some volunteers from here? Perhaps something like a deal on range time for the volunteer labor, should be something like a scale, where perhaps the people that help the most get a lifetime membership, people that help a little, maybe 6-months to 1-year free or whatever.

Anyway, its just an idea, they need the help and many here want another nice range to choose from.
